So, I’m back home — after flying to Lima, Peru for an AI conference last week. I was there to give a keynote speech about AI. The whole flight over I was worried that Nvidia or OpenAI or someone else would announce news of such major importance that I’d have to scrap my entire presentation and start over — fortunately, while there was, in fact, some news, I didn’t have to do any major revisions.

visionOS 2.0 for Apple Vision Pro will release this year, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports. Apple Vision Pro launched on February 2 with visionOS 1.0. Earlier this month Apple released visionOS 1.1 with improvements to the realism of Personas, reliability of Mac Virtual Display, positioning of Volumes, and more. visionOS 1.1 Is Out Now, Improving Personas And More visionOS 1.1 for Apple Vision Pro is out now.

A new Apple Pencil that supports Vision Pro is being tested by Apple, according to MacRumors. MacRumors cites "a source familiar with the matter" as saying Apple has internally tested such a stylus to allow drawing in visionOS apps like Freeform. The report doesn't however go into any specific detail on how the new device works. Room-scale VR platformer Eye of the Temple got a Quest 3 update with increased refresh rate, real-time shadows, and more. Released on Quest last year, Eye of the Temple recently received a Quest 3 patch. Running at 72fps on Quest 2 , the Quest 3 edition now runs at "90fps almost everywhere, 80fps in three areas." Texture resolutions have also been improved, and real-time shadows from your torch have been added.

Apple Vision Pro will launch in China later this year. Reuters reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed the news in response to a question at the China Development Forum in Beijing, according to China Central Television. Vision Pro is currently only available in the US. Apple previously said it will come to other countries "later" in 2024, but hasn't yet confirmed which countries this will include.
