We’ve had a chance to go hands-on with Apple Vision Pro when the company unveiled it at WWDC last summer. Now it seems Apple has let a few outlets in for another go, as new previews have dropped ahead of the device’s Friday pre-order event. The Verge and Engadget were among those with fresh Apple-sanctioned previews of Vision Pro, which featured a pre-demo scanning session so users would have the right sized strap for their heads.

As Apple Vision Pro pre-orders approach, the company is offering up new details on its headset. Vision Pro will include ‘Guest’ and ‘Travel’ modes, and users will have access to more than 150 3D movies across services. Vision Pro pre-orders open this week on January 19th with the headset launching on February 2nd. Apple is taking the moment to sharpen its marketing message, and that message is clear: Vision Pro is being pitched hardest for passive media consumption.

Almost every first generation Apple product has a major shortcoming, and Vision Pro's seems to be its comfort. Apple hasn't officially publicly disclosed Vision Pro's actual weight, though The Verge previously reported it weighs "a little less than a pound". We noticed Vision Pro's weight as a potential problem in our brief hands-on time at WWDC in June, but didn't have enough time with the headset to determine whether or not this was just a fitting problem.

The Apple Immersive Video format sounds like it will deliver 180-degree video with high quality. 180-degree (and 360-degree) video content was a major focus for Facebook in the early Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Go era of modern consumer VR, being particularly suited to those headsets because they lacked positional tracking and positionally tracked controllers.

Meanwhile, an ongoing Texas court case requires CEO Mark Zuckerberg to go before a judge, which appears to be a recurring theme for the leading XR figure.
