Apple today announced its iPhone 15 lineup of smartphones, including the iPhone 15 Pro which will be the company’s first phone to capture spatial video for immersive viewing on Vision Pro. While Apple Vision Pro itself works as a spatial camera, allowing users to capture immersive photos and videos, I think we can all agree that wearing a camera on your head isn’t the most convenient way to capture content.

Unity plans to introduce a new 'Runtime Fee' next year and charging developers based on how many installs they reach. Effective from January 1, 2024, Unity confirms any games running the Unity Engine - comprised of Unity Editor and Unity Runtime - will incur this new charge based on revenue in the last 12 months and lifetime installs. Studios on Personal or Plus plans must hit $200,000 revenue and 200k installs, with subsequent installs costing $0.20 each.

Roblox has done very well on Quest. When it launched on the standalone VR platform back in July, it managed to break one million downloads in its first five days, essentially making the online game the hottest social VR platform currently available on Quest. Now Roblox has also showered attendees at its annual developer conference this past weekend with free Quest Pros.

In late July, Meta introduced a hero shooter called ‘ Super Rumble’ to Horizon Worlds, aiming to improve user retention on its social VR platform with the promise of higher quality first-party content. Now Meta released its second big anchor minigame on Horizon Worlds , a co-op adventure game called ‘Citadel’ Citadel is what Meta calls a “rogue-lite action-adventure puzzle platformer FPS,” offering up both solo and co-op play.

As is often the case with virtual reality, the best game I tried at Gamescom 2023 wasn't one in a big corporate booth or meeting room, but a small indie game called Outta Hand that I demoed in a hallway. The hallway demo has become somewhat of a rite of passage for VR enthusiasts and developers alike. And while this certainly wasn't my first hallway demo, it was one of my most recent favorites – even though I was flaying my arms wildly for any Gamescom attended to see.

It's that time of the year again - Apple's fall iPhone event, where the Cupertino company to unveil its newest generation family of iPhones. This year's theme is "Wonderlust," and will be the backdrop for the launch of iOS 17 as well as what should be the iPhone 15 series. This year is widely expected to see Apple switch from their proprietary Lightning connector to the newer USB-C connector, in large part to comply with EU phone charger regulations.

The iPhone 15 Pro series will get an update later this year letting them capture Spatial Video, Apple announced. That will make iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max Apple's first spatial cameras, with Vision Pro itself set to become the third when it launches early next year. 0:00 / 1× Captured Spatial Videos will be viewable in the Vision Pro headset, and you'll be able to share them to other people who own a Vision Pro too.

Intel and TSMC have announced an agreement in which TSMC will acquire a 10% stake in IMS Nanofabrication. IMS, controlled by Intel, produces multi e-beam photomask writing tools, whose significance is on the rise. TSMC has collaborated with IMS Nano since 2012, and this investment is expected to deepen their partnership. TSMC's acquisition of a 10% stake in IMS Nano is priced at $430 million, aligning with the company's valuation of approximately $4.3 billion.

Tim Cook said today Apple Vision Pro is still on track to ship early next year. During today's Apple Event livestream , in which the company announced the iPhone 15 series and new Watch models, Cook confirmed that its first "spatial computer" is still on track to ship in "early 2024" as Apple announced at WWDC back in June. Vision Pro is set to go on sale in the US first starting at $3500, and then in more (as yet undisclosed) countries "later" next year.

Is Valve building a consolized living room PC capable of powering wireless VR?
