At SIGGRAPH 2023 I tried a Meta research prototype with near-retinal angular resolution, dynamic focus, and dynamic distortion correction. Butterscotch Varifocal is based on the original Butterscotch prototype Meta revealed last year. The Butterscotch prototypes deliver an angular resolution of 56 pixels per degree (PPD) of your vision, just short of the 60 pixels per degree generally accepted to be what the human eye can discern.

On Friday, SK Hynix said it had started mass production of 24 GB LPDDR5X memory stacks that can be used for ultra-high-end smartphones and PCs. The company's LPDDR5X-8500 devices combine ultra-high-performance with high density, thus enabling fast systems with sufficient memory capacity. SK Hynix says such modules could be used well beyond smartphones, PCs, and even servers.

Developed by an independent three-person team, War of Being explores the concepts of Tesseract's upcoming album of the same name.
