Over time, my interest shifted to Unity3D, and now I love to tinker with new hardware like the Leap Motion, Oculus Rift, or Kinect – which led to experiments like Hoverboard VR , Polyrider , and Soundscape VR.

I think that Gartner was not referring to the consumer market, where VR is still unripe (even if devices like the Oculus Quest and the Vive Focus Plus are helping it in becoming more widespread), but at the B2B one, where VR is already helping companies to spare money (e.g. Header image by Leap Motion).

Right now we’re stuck thinking in terms of head-mounted displays (HMDs), like the Vive or the Oculus. Future solutions will get rid of clunky wired headsets and move onto glasses that can project a high-definition image onto the eye, a la Magic Leap, and eventually contact lenses that contain tiny screens.

I think this definition shows you the faith that VR developers have in commercial BCI devices. Oculus official side distribution platform is coming soon. Last year, Facebook announced that it was going to release in 2021 a new side content distribution platform for the Oculus Quest. Google makes Tilt Brush opensource.
