You can finally buy the Leap Motion v2 accessory. The time for us XR developers to buy a Leap Motion 2 has finally come. Leap Motion 1 has been used by almost every developer and researcher , both in VR and not. Yes, the price is higher than the cheap Leap Motion 1, but this is also a far better device.

Because if Apple is just going to repeat the same use cases of the HTC Vive and Meta Quest 2, but selling it at $3000, it is just going to fail spectacularly. That’s why the headset should be available by the end of the year, and my bet is that Apple is trying to have it ready before the holidays. But the big question is the “how”.

To get there, I had to ask for information to people that was not able to speak English… it has been funny. I’ll keep developing and blogging , that’s better. I must give a special mention to the Leap Motion v2 sensor. Me, super excited in front of the VRgineers’s office.

Facebook has acquired Ctrl+Labs some years ago, and now it is using its expertise to create a wristband that can sense the motion information that your brain is sending to your hands. As it had promised on my blog last year , its cool Nreal Light AR glasses have finally arrived in Europe. Nreal Light is on sale in Germany.

HTC Vive Cosmos and its controllers, just announced at CES (Image by HTC). HTC has been the VR star of this CES 2019. The biggest announcement has been the HTC Vive Cosmos , a headset that has generated a lot of hype also because HTC has not revealed all its features, but it has only teased them. FinchShift.

Then, The Information has reported a similar rumor, but talking about other glasses, codenamed Stella , that should be similar to Snap’s Spectacles and be released much sooner than 2023 (it could be the 1st generation of devices created by this partnership). But this is known since a lot (see all the work researchers are doing with smart prosthetics), and the Matrix is something far more different than it : it would require injecting information into all areas the brain, something for which now we have just very simple experiments.
