Chinese manufacturers BOE and SeeYA may provide cheaper displays in higher quantities than Sony is doing now, while Samsung may be supplying the DRAM components. What a time to be alive!

Small startups can’t compete with big companies, so usually, startups produce expensive headsets at a smaller scale to survive : see VRgineers or Varjo as an example. Stanford and Samsung create a super-high-resolution display. Well, that demo has turned into a paid application called Clipdrop.
