Unity page also confirms that the headset will provide plane detection, so you will be able for instance to detect the walls and the desks in your room.

I’m back to Italy after my trip to Helsinki! But things on the consumers’ side may not be going as well: according to some data scrapped from Amazon, the Quest 2 outsold the Quest 3 by a factor of 3:1 in the last 30 days. If all the existing flatscreen Unity games could become VR-compatible, that would be huge. THREE TO ONE.

Holo-Light has also just announced to have become the first AR/VR streaming provider to be named Unity Verified Solutions Partner. Amazon has for sure some servers in the region, so the streaming was happening from a close location. Hands-on XRnow. Even worse if I was not in a city but in the country side.

Probably I should tell you that I was busy with VR projects, but the truth is that I have been celebrating a lot lately, especially the recent victory of Italy in the Euro 2020 soccer championship. Amazon Lumberyard becomes opensource. Amazon has launched some years ago its 3D engine called Lumberyard, derived from Crytek’s Cryengine.

After a few days where we thought we were all living in a big oven, here in Italy we’re having the first taste of Autumn, with the temperatures going down and a lot of rain falling from the sky. Another leak regarded the release date: an Amazon listing put the availability date of the Quest 3 starting from October, 10th.

The damn coronavirus continues to impact all our lives: the fact that many countries are applying restrictions on flights to and from Italy is, for example, creating various nuisances to my job.
