And all of this comes in a period when other partnerships between tech giants are happening: remember that some weeks ago, Microsoft closed its streaming service Mixer and allied with Facebook Gaming to fight the quasi-monopoly of (Amazon-owned) Twitch. Peggy Johnson is the new CEO of Magic Leap. I can’t wait to read it.

The enormous piece of news of the week is tha t Facebook has communicated that from October, 20th, all people that want to use an Oculus device for personal use will have to use their personal Facebook account to log in. I’m honestly not that convinced by this feature , having seen similar features for PCVR headsets (Oculus Rift Home, SteamVR Home) never gaining ground, but maybe with Quest will be different. Amazon now offers the possibility to try-on shoes in AR on its app. Cosmonius High is releasing a new update with lots of accessibility options.

It doesn’t seem to be on par with the Oculus Quest 2, but as a first device by Nolo, it is not that bad. A decent budget for Microsoft and Facebook… but something impossible for companies like HTC or Magic Leap (do you remember when we all thought that $2.5B Magic Leap partners with AMD for its next-generation device.

The only sure purchase for me on day 1 among the above devices has been the Oculus Quest. I wrote a review on Magic Leap One because my friend (and ex partner ) Gianni made me try it.

Started covering those areas when they were very tied to games, especially when the original Oculus Rift was launched. I’d say that through at least 2022, the enterprise will account for the majority of augmented and mixed reality headsets like Hololens and Magic Leap. Or it’s going to take some more time?
