Apple already made hardware, so it already had the infrastructure to build it and just added XR people on top of this infrastracture, while Facebook could not). Apple AR headset may have been delayed to 2025. Yes, we have rumors about Apple XR devices even this week. But it is impressive anyway. It’s believable.

Then the wish to compete with Apple may not become a reality: when the Vision Pro was announced, Samsung didn’t expect such cool features from it, so it delayed the announcement of the headset to have the time to increase its capabilities. That’s fantastic news for all Unity XR developers!

It isn’t alone, we know of many companies that are spending billions on same, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sony, Magic Leap, Huawei, and others. You can see this in today’s AR products (and despite what Microsoft or Magic Leap call their devices, they really are augmented reality devices that you wear on your face).
