Google reportedly asked Meta to partner and "contribute to" its upcoming XR platform, but Meta said no. The Meta Quest operating system is a fork of the open-source core of Android (known as AOSP), a similar strategy to Amazon's Fire OS for its Fire tablets. We would love to partner with them.

And Quest 2 is much cheaper (especially now that has been put at $199): during the last holidays, it outperformed the Quest 3 by a factor 3:1 on Amazon US. I would wait a bit more, probably until the second half of 2025.

Oculus plans to introduce in-app purchases to App Lab experiences. Oculus App Lab has been introduced by Facebook to give a way to indie developers to publish their applications for Quest without the need of passing Facebook’s strong store curation. Plus, the Netflix app has been in VR since the times of Gear VR/Oculus Go.
