Another leak regarded the release date: an Amazon listing put the availability date of the Quest 3 starting from October, 10th. First of all, Google has to keep the work on the headset very secret also internally , because Samsung is afraid that Google will steal its expertise to build a competing product.

It projects continuous growth for VR, with Enterprise VR revenues to reach $4.26B by 2023. by 2023 , 45% of all XR revenue. Amazon promises “single-digit latency” XR streaming. Amazon has announced some weeks ago “Wavelength”, a new offering of its AWS services, that should provide “single-digit latency” over 5G networks.

I think that the upcoming release of Quest 3, and the increasing rumors about Samsung are going to improve our situation even more. The latest Q2 2023 operating loss of Reality Labs has been around $4 billion. Maybe we are getting out of the quicksands we were in since the start of the year. Let’s all hope so. According to the news outlet DigiTimes, Apple will use Taiwan-based Pegatron as its sole assembly manufacturer for it, and mass production of the device is set to begin “at the end of the first quarter of 2023”. This has been a pretty interesting week for me, having spoken at XR Safety Week and Stereopsia, and having published two cool articles about creating innovative SteamVR controllers and using Application SpaceWarp in Unity to almost double the framerate of your application. Microsoft and Samsung may be partnering for an AR device.

This week, the analysts Ming-Chi Kuo has teased that Apple Glasses are coming in 2022 at the earliest (2022–2023 timeline). This WWDC has not been an exception in this sense, and now all the Apple analysts (including Kuo and Scoble) already envision a reveal of the Apple headset for January 2023. Rumors already talk about a new AR headset produced by Microsoft in collaboration with Samsung that should substitute it, but we have no sure info about it.
