The news comes after Meta unveiled its Quest Pro enterprise headset at its Connect 2022 event in October last year. HTC VIVE debuted its VIVE XR Elite at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in January for roughly $1,200. Priced at £1,500, the Quest Pro faces strong competition from rival headset manufacturers.

Probably, an affordable Quest 2 based on XR2 may come out in 2022. The only company not much affected by it is HTC, that manufacturers its headsets in Taiwan and not in Mainland China. HTC Vive releases Cosmos Elite, two models of Vive Pro Eye and creates some confusion. In any case, I’m very intrigued. Other relevant news.

Regarding the glasses, I have not big hopes for true AR glasses, but I think that thanks to Facebook and Apple, finally we’ll have some important smartglasses entering the market , making the mainstream think about wearing something on their face to enjoy notifications from the phone. Phone AR will be always more popular.
