It’s time for a shocking reunion. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx is in talks to reprise his role as Electro from 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie.

As reported by THR, Foxx may be once again taking on the role he played during Andrew Garfield’s run as the web-slinger. This time he’ll be taking on Holland’s Peter Parker—who most recently starred in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which followed the final Avengers crossover epic. It’s the latest surprising crossover from the earlier Spider-Man franchises, with Far From Home seeing a post-credits cameo from J.K. Simmons as the world’s greatest J. Jonah Jameson.

Most of the supporting cast is expected to return for Spider-Man 3, which will once again be directed by Jon Watts and will keep its connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This comes after Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios managed to reach a deal last year to continue their Spider-Man-adjacent partnership, after talks temporarily fell through. It’s a good thing too, as Sony is betting big on its place in the Marvel movie world. The studio is currently in the middle of developing a massive Spider-Man cinematic franchise—with Venom 2 on the way, along with Jared Leto’s Morbius, a Silk television show, and several other potential projects.

The third Spider-Man film is set to come out on November 5, 2021, although the novel coronavirus pandemic could change that.
