24: Legacy ‘The Raid’ Comes to VR

Are you ready for six minutes of intense 24 VR action?

Fox and Samsung have partnered up to bring the series reboot of 24 to life in a pretty gripping way — putting you in the center of a combat mission in virtual reality.

Titled “The Raid,” the VR short is a prequel to the “24: Legacy” series premiere episode that debuts after the Super Bowl. Not only will you be introduced to some of the new cast and storyline of the series, you can do it all while donning your Gear VR headset in this six-minute experience.

the_raid_24_vrThe VR prequel was produced by “24: Legacy” Executive Producer Howard Gordon in partnership with Here Be Dragons. And in true 24 style, the is one of the more violent and fast-paced VR experiences we’ve seen yet in a 360° video. The short transports you to Yemen, letting you follow along in an action-packed raid led by Lieutenant Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins, “Straight Outta Compton”) and his team of Special Forces Soldiers against the compound of terrorist leader Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. You’ll also meet CTU director Rebecca Ingram (Miranda Otto, “Homeland”), who is directing the mission — the culmination of a decade-long hunt for Bin Khalid.

The Samsung and Fox partnership additionally included “24: Legacy” product placement, social content and an event at Samsung 837, the brand’s New York-based flagship tech center. During the Samsung 837 event, Samsung partnered with Los Angeles-based Two Bit Circus, who provided a haptic stand with rumbling floors to simulate the helicopter ride, gunshots and explosions.
