It's a big year for San Diego Comic-Con, a big year for Marvel, and a big year for Mondo.

On the 'Con front, 2022 marks the fan convention's first full-blown return since COVID shut the world down in March 2020 (there was a heavily curtailed show in 2021). For Marvel, it's a year of re-introductions, new heroes, and, as Ms. Marvel on Disney+ and the Doctor Strange sequel both demonstrated, stylistic evolutions. And for Mondo, the boutique Austin art gallery known for its geeky limited edition collectibles, SDCC '22 is its first as a wholly owned subsidiary of Funko.

A team-up worthy of the Avengers was inevitable, and here it is. Marvel is bringing a whole lineup of Mondo exclusives to San Diego Comic-Con, including a pair of posters and variants for each one, a reissued soundtrack on vinyl with updated art, and a beastly figurine. Some of them will only be available at the show itself, but those stuck at home aren't being left out.

Mondo's Marvel posters at SDCC '22

We'll start with the posters. On the Marvel Studios side, there's a wall-worthy new Black Widow poster from Tula Lotay, the artist behind the Warren Ellis-authored comic, Supreme: Blue Rose, and the founder of the UK's Thought Bubble Festival. Portraits of powerful women are a common theme in her work, and these two Widow pieces showcase her talents.

The black-and-white version of the poster costs $50 and will be sold online via the Mondo Shop in an edition of 250 on July 21, the opening day of SDCC. The poster's red-and-black variant is set as a show-floor exclusive. Attendees will be able to grab one from the Mondo booth (#5137) for $75, but only if you're lucky enough to get there before the even smaller edition of 120 posters sells out.

Fans of the comics are also in for a treat, with a pair of Silver Surfer posters featuring iconic art that marks a particular moment in Marvel history. The main offering is a poster-sized version of the first cover from the two-issue, Eisner Award-winning Silver Surfer: Parable miniseries that released in 1988. The late French artist Jean "Moebius" Giraud provided the art for a script penned by none other than Stan Lee himself. The poster's "Keyline" variant features a color-free, pencil-shaded version of the same art.

Just like Black Widow, one Surfer poster will only be available online and the other will only be sold on the show floor. The full-color one is the show floor exclusive, and attendees will have a chance to pick one up, out of an edition of 225, at Mondo's booth on July 23 for $50. The $70 variant will also be sold on July 23, but the limited offering of 100 posters will only be available from the Mondo Shop online.

Mondo's Marvel soundtrack at SDCC '22

This next one is a reissue with a twist. Back in April, Mondo revealed a vinyl record release of Joel P. West's memorable Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soundtrack, featuring inside and outside gatefold art from Dani Pendergast. While that art isn't changing, the records themselves are. The original's pair of color vinyl records, one blue and one yellow, will be replaced in the SDCC reissue with a grey record and a red record.

Take note, this one is only coming to the show floor. Mondo's Shang-Chi vinyl reissue will be available for $40 in an edition of 500 on July 21.

Mondo's Marvel figurine at SDCC '22

Mondo rounds out its Marvel lineup for SDCC '22 with one more item, and it's another one for the comics fans: An all-new version of the collectible figurine for Man-Thing. This will actually be the third version of the 12-inch vinyl creation, following a 2021 release featuring comics-accurate coloring and an April 2022 release of the tripped-out "Psychedelic Variant."

The $275 "Pen & Ink Variant SDCC Exclusive" figurine is set to be an online-only offering (via the Mondo Shop, of course), released in an edition of 125. The new figurine and the two that preceded it were all designed and sculpted by James Groman, with paint by Hector Arce and Mike Bonanno and packaging by Groman and Bonanno.
