On Monday, Agora, a firm designing real-time engagement (RTE) applications, took to the virtual stage at RTE 2022 to introduce updates to its software development kit (SDK).
Agora is redesigning its immersive development ecosystem as a more “flexible, simple and powerful” offering, Virginia Liu, the company’s Chief Experience Officer said.
Agora’s Fresh Updates
According to Liu, Agora is re-architecting its SDK and digital network to increase its builder efficiency, following RTE’s general increase in technical sophistication and scale.
The firm is releasing the updates via its Agora Voice and Video SDK 4.0 content creation platforms, which debuted in September 2022.
Virginia Liu added,
“We encourage all of our customers and developers to update to this latest version of SDK and take advantage of the latest innovation from Agora”
Liu noted that Agora designed the initial iterations of its SDK to match early-generation RTE applications “when the use cases were relatively simple and unified.”
The CEO adds that the new SDK provides a set of simple-to-use APIs that allow developers to design bespoke immersive collaboration environments.
The new generation of Agora SDK contains a robust interface which provides a more granular architecture for its media pipeline.
What are Extention APIs
Liu also explained that Agora’s new APIs give greater control over an SDK pipeline while maintaining compatibility with previous versions.
Agora will provide more attractive features for immersive developers as the service’s ecosystem matures.
Liu continued,
“We will provide more and more APIs available and make these modules available to you over time”
Agora distributes rich new features and APIs via the SDK’s extension marketplace, which enables platform developers to easily access and implement advanced features with “just a few lines of code,” said Liu.
Liu concluded,
“I’m super excited to see the adoption of the extensions API by the broader ecosystem from Agora. We deliver spatial audio, AI, noise suppression, simple resolution, and many other extensions that allow you to build an immersive experience”
Additionally, the Agora platform comes with roughly ten pre-integrated extensions from the marketplace ready for a developer to use.
The RTE 2022 explores crucial technologies behind immersive RTE services such as spatial audio, IoT, and extended reality (XR).
The event is taking place in San Francisco and online from 10 to 12 October. RTE 2022 gathers more than 80 speakers in roughly 30 sessions to provide insight into RTE contact creation and distribution.
