The company has already released their SDK which allows developers to integrate FOVE support for projects built-in Unity, Unreal Engine, and CryEngine. It’s been a long road for FOVE , the creators of the eye-tracking VR headset that hit Kickstarter last summer, but today the company launches pre-orders for their first commercially available product, the FOVE 0. Pre-orders start at a special discount price of $549, available from today until November 9 at 8 a.m.

Crytek-Incubated ‘VR First’ Program to Double Number of Academic VR/AR Labs in 2017

While the program was principally incubated by Crytek, students working in VR First labs tend use Unity (48%), followed by Unreal (20%) and then CRYENGINE (14%). VR First , the global initiative to seed academic institutions with VR/AR hardware and software, today announced that it’s nearly doubling the number of its VR labs in universities and science parks across the globe by the end of 2017.

Popular VR Youtuber Sebastian Ang has spotted two online stores (one from the Netherlands and the other from Germany) already listing the Vive Cosmos for €799. Tyler of VNN has decompiled the Unity code of The Lab (something that is pretty easy to do) and in the DLLs has found all the code of a shooter game that features various characters from Half Life. It is highly probable that an HLVR game will be developed in the Source game engine, so a Unity game is not a possibility.

The new initiative will help independent creators incubate original VR projects. Originally started in 2015 as a traveling VR film festival spanning 10 cities in North America, Kaleidoscope has really come into its own this year.

Some cool guys from the Netherlands noticed that in the virtual reality market there are premium headsets (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive , etc…) for VR enthusiasts and then there is the Cardboard that lets people dip a toe into VR waters for little money; in the augmented reality market, instead, there are premium headsets (e.g. If you follow my blog since some months ago, for sure you know that I love the Aryzon headset.
