I’ve seen what companies are doing nowadays to use tracked props on the Oculus Quest: they have to add bulky mounts to install the even bulkier Touch controllers on them. Further references.

From the photos it’s not exactly clear whether the headset makes use of waveguides like Microsoft HoloLens 2, or birdbath optics like Nreal Light. Before their official announcements, the user revealed Oculus Quest 2 , HP Reverb G2 and HoloLens 2. The headset’s near-eye optics sit behind the glass frame.

This is a massive overkill, since the latest Oculus Rift Crescent Bay edition contains a 1440p display. However, Oculus does aim for content shown at 80fps!
