Spider-Man Comes To Virtual Reality

Now you can suit up as your favorite web-shooting, high flying superhero.

We’ve all thought about it—wondering when it would finally happen. VR is so amazing, but all I really want to be is Spider-Man.

Now you finally can. In conjunction with the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland, you can now suit up as Spider-Man, hone your web-shooting skills, and sling high above New York City in pursuit of the Vulture. Yes please.

You’ll get to learn the ins and outs of your brand new Stark Industries upgraded webshooters and master different web types as you race to complete fast-paced targeting trials.

Spider-Man: Homecoming VR will be available for free across all major VR platforms, including PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, starting June 30, leading up to the July 7 theatrical release of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“Spider-Man is the most beloved superhero in the world, so we knew Spider-Man: Homecoming VR had to be something special. Fans can wear the suit, fire the new web shooters – THWIP! – and swing through the air in a faceoff with The Vulture,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President, Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures in a statement. “It’s every fan’s fantasy turned into virtual reality.”

The multi-platform VR experience also has a trailer that you can watch below.

Leading up to its in-home release, you can experience Spider-Man: Homecoming VR at special events and select movie theaters worldwide, starting this weekend at select Cinemark Theaters in the US and at the CineEurope tradeshow in Barcelona.

Spider-Man: Homecoming VR was produced by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and developed by creative agency CreateVR.

Back in March, we got a preview of Sony’s Ghostbusters VR experience that launched on PlayStation VR.
