Today Magic Leap has launched the Lumin SDK, the toolkit which allows developers to build AR experiences for Lumin OS, the operating system that powers the Magic Leap One headset. Announced with support for both Unity and Unreal, the Lumin SDK exposes the capabilities of the Magic Leap One headset to developers who can use it to begin building augmented reality experiences for the platform. GDC 2018: Magic Leap One Getting Unreal Engine 4 Support

Magic Leap One Will Ship This Summer With Nvidia Tegra X2 Processor

Following four years of development, Magic Leap announced today that it will begin shipping the Magic Leap One Creator Edition to developers this summer — a window that began on June 21, 2018 and will end on September 22, 2018. Magic Leap’s use of the Tegra X2 means that the spatial computer’s total horsepower will be substantially ahead of the Nintendo Switch console, which uses a Tegra X1. Eye tracking and head tracking are both included as well.

According to the demo video (linked below), the unnamed “R&D prototype” looks to include both 6DOF head-tracking as well as hand-tracking, and appear to be a standalone unit similar to Microsoft HoloLens. There’s no word on whether the company plans on productizing the AR headset, or creating a developer platform such as Magic Leap One.
