According to an interview posted on the Financial Times (and referenced by IGN ) Sony’s CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said, “At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have a next-generation hardware”. Last month, Yoshida even said that improvements and evolutions are still being worked on for PSVR, so I’d say it’s a good sign for prospects of PSVR continuing to exist as a strategy for Sony going forward. Microsoft Affirms No Plans for VR on Xbox Consoles

Back at E3 2016, Microsoft’s Head of Xbox Phil Spencer announced on stage that the Xbox One X (then ‘Project Scorpio’) would become the industry’s next VR-compatible console, positioning the platform to compete with Sony’s PSVR with what Spencer called “high fidelity VR.” Shortly after, Microsoft backpedaled however, indicating that one major roadblock to VR on Xbox was the ability to offer a fully wireless experience.

Microsoft Releasing new XBox with Oculus Rift Support?


Multiple sources are claiming in 2017 Microsoft will release a new XBox, codenamed "Scorpio" with a more powerful GPU and with a 2TB drive. The new XBox is apparently capable of supporting the Rift, and Microsoft is already a partner with Oculus via their wireless controller.
