Between 1st and 3rd of June 2020, we had the annual summit of the VR AR Association. Obviously it was virtual as well, as the rest of Covid affected events. Here is my summary of the new things I found (definitely not the only good things, but the things I cared about).

The 3 days of lectures has been recorded, and I will update this article after I watch all the recordings.

“Worldwide Point Cloud to be Used by Users”

Immersal: collaboratively turning the world into a point cloud, which is ready for location-based AR content.
This is something AR has been waiting for in a long time. I hope it works as they advertise. This is something Google doesn`t yet have.

Training

Edge Flow: step by step training simulations in VR. Movement with teleportation inside a 3D model, with realistic hand gestures.

Maintenance

Brainpad by Joinpad: management system for enterprise maintenance using a Super Simple device with Super Simple software. This does not require new expensive equipment or complex installations. Tell them I sent you and they will give you a demo :)

Elm Park: AR solutions for enterprise.

Consulting, Outsourcing, Studios

Blend Market: network of professional AR VR freelancers to assist those in need.

XR Directory: open-sourced free directory of established companies in the field (with over 1M$ of investment or annual revenue). created by Charlie Fink, a lovable creature and XR researcher.

New Software

VisionLib: SDK with super impressive tracking on 3D objects (ready for Unity as well).

New Hardware

Pico Neo 2 eye: eye tracking, vr and ar, hand tracking.

Varjo: super quality, all features. super expensive. for enterprise scale.

Tg0 Etee: controller that feels level of squeeze. no pinching…

By far, the most impressive interface I have seen in the past few years

Tg0 Etee: kept the best for last. Super sensitive new interfaces for buttons and tools.
