And talking about “cool” things (pun intended), today I’m traveling to Helsinki, Finland, where I hope to have a great time at MatchXR. This may be one of the potential names for either the upcoming mixed reality headset that Samsung is developing with Google or the name of future AR glasses. Will we meet there?

First off, some of the early major players like Google, Apple, and Samsung seem to be taking a step back. Google is discontinuing Daydream (more on that below), Apple seems to be focusing most of its efforts on AR, and Samsung is doing very little promotion of Gear VR despite launching a new phone line.

According to Google Trends, the search term “Virtual Reality Porn” has increased by almost 10,000%. Google knows everything, so who are the ones downloading the most? Although the dubious award of #1 goes to Helsinki in Finland, #2-4 are Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane (Singapore is #5). Turns out, it’s our friends Down Under.
