It’s a mind-blowing format that we’ve been pioneering at VRScout’s studio over the years to film everything from original art series , Super Bowl commercials , to even full-blown music videos. It started with the HTC Vive headset and only recently have we begun to see support added to Unity applications on the Oculus Rift. Now Unreal Engine developers can finally open up their projects to mixed reality capture with a new plugin created by HTC Vive developer Foo Hoang.

Kite & Lightning’s ‘Bebylon Battle Royale’ Nabs Unreal Dev Grant

Kite & Lightning, the studio behind some of VR’s earliest experiences, is one of 13 developers receiving a portion of over $200,000 in ‘Unreal Dev Grants’, a program set up by Epic Games to showcase and provide financial support to projects using Unreal Engine 4. Bebylon Battle Royale is the team’s first major VR game, described as a “vehicular melee party brawler,” and is due to release in 2018 on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

VIVE X Startup Mindesk Secures $900K to Create VR Multiuser Design Software

Mindesk , a startup developing a platform for real-time CAD collaboration in AR/VR, today announced a $900,000 seed round from HTC Vive, Barcamper Ventures, A11 Venture and Invitalia Ventures. The company joined VIVE X, HTC’s global VR/AR accelerator program, for its second batch back in 2017, which included investments and mentorship for a total of 33 startups working in the areas of software and hardware for both augmented and virtual reality.

While it may not be specifically marketed for VR consumers, instead targeted towards developers, the external GPU enclosure would technically allow you to use a high-quality VR headset like a HTC Vive or Oculus Rift with a MacBook using the Steam VR beta.
