Surgeons were able to view 3D anatomical information in real-time thanks to Dr. Steve Murphy’s AR guidance platform. According to a report by WCVB-TV , a new intra-operative AR guidance platform ‘HipInsight’ was used for the first time last month during a live operation at New England Baptist Hospital, marking one of the first times AR technology has been used inside the operating room during live surgery.

Wanderer is an upcoming VR adventure game inspired by Quantum Leap (1989) and Dark (2017) that lets you travel back through history to prevent the collapse of civilization. Created by New Zealand studios Oddboy and M Theory , Wanderer is coming to all major VR headsets sometime later this year. Awaking to an apocalyptic timeline, you find an unusual wristwatch which unlocks the power to traverse time and space.

Virtual reality has had the reputation for being something only for games and entertainment, a perception that VR companies and advocates are trying to dispel with more serious applications. That said, there’s no denying that the technology is perfect for immersive interactive content, at least the kind that puts you in the middle of the action.

I was browsing the web on a Chinese website (don’t ask me why) and I found a banner that was promoting the Pico Neo 3 on JD.com (a popular e-commerce website). Clicking on it, I surprisingly found an item page with the complete listing of its features and a long series of photos of the Pico Neo 3. I guess that in China the preorder campaign has already started, so the information about it is already public, and for sure it has been an interesting read for me… so I wanted to share its

Following subsequent teases of an unannounced Vive headset, HTC today announced an event called VIVEcon, set for May 11th & 12th. While there’s no details so far on what the event will entail, the company is clearly teasing the reveal of its new VR headset. Following subsequent teases of a new headset, HTC today announced the “Vivecon 2021” event, but posted no additional details beyond the name, date, and a headset teaser, in a photo posted to the Vive twitter account.

Editor’s Note: The ArtGate International 2021 kicks off with an opening ceremony tomorrow night, followed by three days of virtual art events. The art exhibition is open to the public and there is no cost to attend the event. A virtual reality headset will make the experience more immersive, but people can attend without one via their PC or mobile device.

Oculus today announced new features coming to Quest 2 in update v28, including Air Link for wireless PC VR streaming, support for 120Hz refresh rate, and the ability to track your desk and keyboard in VR for enhanced productivity. The latest Quest update is due to start rolling out to users any day now and will bring with it a slew of updates. Air Link for Wireless PC VR on Quest 2.

With the high demand for semiconductors causing most companies to focus on their high margin, high profitability components, I wasn’t expecting to see many launches of low-to-mid range hardware for the rest of 2021. Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey is a virtual reality version of the bubble-matching arcade puzzle game Puzzle Bobble (1994), and it’s coming to Oculus Quest on May 20th. Additional details regarding the official VR port will arrive April 21st during the Oculus Gaming Showcase. In a surprise announcement made earlier today during the Resident Evil Showcase , it was revealed that Capcom, Facebook, and Armature Studios are developing an official VR port of the 2005 action/horror game Resident Evil 4 , aka the best Resident Evil game ever.

Capcom today announced that it’s bringing the horror classic Resident Evil 4 (2005) to Oculus Quest 2. Published in partnership with Oculus Studios, it will be the first game that’s available on Quest 2 but not compatible with the original Quest.
