The location-based VR startup headed by Disney and DreamWorks veterans, has teamed up with Nickelodeon to produce an experience based on Nickelodeon’s intellectual property.

Location-based VR is on the rise. The immersive free-roaming virtual experiences are the culmination of VR’s most current advanced technology, delivering arguably the most captivating and interactive adventures currently available to the public. Whether it be the spooky real-world interactive elements presented by DarkCorner, or the action-packed multiplayer experiences from The VOID, it appears as though location-based VR is here to stay.

Dreamscape Immersive, one of those rapidly growing location-based VR companies, just finished their second round of funding at a staggering $30 million. This was due in large part to investments from other massive names in entertainment like Nickelodeon, 21st Century Fox and Warner Bros. as well as other influential institutions such as Majid Al Futtaim, VRSense Solutions Limited, and Image Nation Abu Dhabi. Returning Series A investors including and Bold Capital Partners. These contributions will assist in expanding the Dreamscape Immersive enterprise to new locations and supporting the development and acquisition of new VR content.

It has already been confirmed that Nickelodeon and Dreamscape are partnering for a new IP aimed specifically for children and families. Meanwhile VRSense Solutions, a developer of VR backpacks will be responsible for advancing Dreamscape hardware development, Middle Eastern lifestyle conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim will focus its efforts on expanding the start-up globally and media company Image Nation Abu Dhabi will assist in developing a large catalogue of immersive experiences to enjoy.

Other advisors on the project include filmmaker Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring), composer Hans Zimmer (Inception, Interstellar), production designer Rick Carter, former Warner Bros. executive Dan Fellman and former Disney COO Tom Staggs.

“We started Dreamscape Immersive with the fundamental belief that strategic partners will be key to our success,” stated Aaron Grosky, COO of Dreamscape Immersive. “This group of existing and new investors, each of whom are leaders in their own respective categories, not only share in our vision but will help Dreamscape Immersive execute and grow. We couldn’t be more excited for what we’re going to be able to accomplish together.”

Dreamscape Immersive will launch its first VR center at the Westfield Century Mall in Los Angeles early next year with plans to open another six locations at various AMC theaters across North America and the U.K.
