hitmotion reloaded quest sidequest launch

HitMotion: Reloaded has been launched on SideQuest!

I’m very happy to announce that HitMotion: Reloaded, the XR fitness game that we of New Technology Walkers are developing, has finally been launched for Oculus Quest! It is now available on SideQuest at this link and will come soon on App Lab (as soon as it will be approved).

HitMotion: Reloaded is an XR fitness game whose purpose is going around a ring and punch objects hard and fast, while at the same time dodging the attacks of enemies that run towards you. The mechanics may seem simple, but actually the game is very intense, and I promise you that after some levels, especially if you use the force modifier, you will want to take a break. It’s a boxing training disguised as a game.

HitMotion is a game that all over the years has always been at the cutting edge of technology: in 2016 it was the tech demo of a full-body VR game using VR headsets and Kinects made for my startup Immotionar. It was born as a summer project made by Massimiliano Ariani and me, helped by the 3D artist Victor Pukhov.

In 2019, when we had the possibility of collaborating with HTC Vive China for a launch title of the Vive Focus Plus, we remastered HitMotion to work on a 6DOF standalone headset, in pass-through augmented reality: HitMotion: Reloaded was born. It was the first mixed reality fitness game, and we had many positive feedbacks about it, but due to the business nature of the Focus, the game could not have a big audience in the West.

Many people asked us for a porting to the Quest, the most popular VR headset, and finally, after one year and a half, we have managed to complete it and give it to the community! And it has been made again by me, Max, and Victor, like the first one… together with other professionals this time: Lapo Germasi, Federico Gallucci, Davide Pensato, and Luigi Di Guida, that have helped us in the design and development! We are very happy about this, and we can’t wait for many people to play our game!

The game is now on SideQuest, with App Lab release coming soon. It is actually not a full game, but a free demo that everyone can play, featuring 2 training levels and 5 easy workout levels, that offer a good replayability thanks to force and time modifiers. The demo is also an alpha, that is we are releasing it without having polished and optimized it because we want to hear the feedback of the community! So please download the game, make some noise about it on your social media channels and then let us know your feedback so that we can improve our demo, and also work on the full version of the game, for which we are looking for funding partners and publishers (if you are one of them, please let me know!).

In the next few days, I will write a post about how the game has evolved from an MR one on the Focus+ to a VR one on the Quest (Julien, this is for you!). For now, to discover all about HitMotion: Reloaded and its launch, I invite you to read the official launch blog post on HitMotion’s website: https://hitmotion.games/hitmotion-reloaded-sidequest-launch/

…or to directly download the game on SideQuest: https://sidequestvr.com/app/4555

Have fun with HitMotion! Play it, stay fit, and let everyone else know about it! Are you ready for the fitness battle?
