Android 13 has been available for Android phones since late 2022, and it’s a pretty minor update from Google. Well, we say minor, but that’s only in comparison to the positively gargantuan number of changes that were in Android 12 — and in light of Google’s policy of trickling out improvements to Android apps over the course of a year as soon as they’re ready. Android 13 is more of a tune-up to the engine that powers your phone than anything else. But it’s still one worth getting excited for.
Tablet and foldable owners will see the most benefits, and there will be some updates to Material You to improve Android’s customizability. There really isn’t much else to say about Android 13. It’s a very under-the-hood update, and that trend appears to be continuing with the upcoming Android 14 as well.
As for timelines, Google dropped Android 13 in August, with the Pixels getting it first and the likes of Samsung and Oppo releasing their updates shortly after. Here’s when you can expect it to land on your phone.
What phones will get Android 13?
Google’s Pixel phones were among the first to get the update, Samsung followed soon after, and other brands filtered in behind it. Most phones from Samsung Galaxy, Asus, HMD (Nokia phones), iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi, and other phones are either rocking Android 13 in 2023 — or expected to get it during the year. Some flagships from the likes of Nokia and Motorola, for example, despite having close to “stock” Android interfaced, have yet to receive updates as of February 2023.
Asus
Asus had been testing out an Android 13 update for the Asus Zenfone 8 shortly after rolling out Android 12 to its older flagships. Shortly after Android 13’s Pixel availability, the company announced rollouts for both the Zenfone and ROG lines.
Asus started its Android 13 rollout in December 2022, with the Zenfone 9 getting it then. The Zenfone 8 and ROG Phone 6 series will follow through the end of March 2023, while the ROG Phone 5 is timetabled to get it before June. By mid-February 2023, the Asus Zenfone 9 and 8 series had also received updates to Android 13.

Google confirmed that all Pixel devices from the Pixel 4 will get Android 13. This means the Pixel 4, 4XL, 4a, 4a 5G, 5, 5a, 6, 6a, and 6 Pro. The 3a and 3a XL have seen their final updates, while the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will launch with Android 13 onboard. On August 15, Google announced the rollout of Android 13 to all supported Pixels, signaling the start of the updates.
Samsung
Samsung’s Android 13 update takes the shape of One UI 5. The company’s newest version of Android sees it incorporate niceties such as an expanded lock screen customization tool and “modes,” its take on Apple’s iOS 16’s lock screen and focus modes, respectively.
Samsung has also incorporated all of Android 13’s features, including enhanced Material You theming and the new Privacy and Security dashboard. A Bixby Tell feature for answering your phone calls using text is coming in 2023, according to Samsung.
While we expected every A-Series and S-Series Samsung phone released in the past four years to get One UI 5 and Android 13 pretty quickly, Samsung moved faster than anticipated. Still, the company’s estimates these series of updates will run through February 2023.
Though Samsung’s rollout has been especially speedy, the company says this year will be even faster as it works to close the gap.

Motorola
Though Motorola parent Lenovo is not expected to make many major changes to its Android 13 versions, the company will still take a few months before it begins rolling out updates. In brief, expect the newest models from 2021 onward to be high on the priority list. Motorola will be releasing Android 13 to the following devices in early 2023, a Motorola agent confirmed in a forum post. As of mid-February 2023, the company has yet to begin the update process.

Nokia
HMD Global isn’t the best at giving speedy updates for Nokia phones anymore, but it has been testing an Android 13 developer preview for the rugged Nokia XR20. It’s expected to keep that phone updated through the next year at least. The folks over at Nokia Mob also spotted HMD Global testing Android 13 for the newly released X30 5G, as well as the G60 5G, X20, X10, and G50. These phones fall within the company’s two years of software support and received updates in January 2023. Some, like the Nokia X30, remain on Android 12 in the meantime. HMD Global has yet to share a timeline of updates as with other manufacturers, so you’ll see it when you see it.

Nothing
The Nothing Phone received Nothing OS 1.5 with Android 13 in February 2023 after a brief beta testing period. The Nothing Phone 1‘s update sees it pick up a slew of bug fixes and improvements, alongside the typical Android 13 features.
Specific to Nothing is a new Nothing weather app themed with the brand’s glyph interface, enhanced customization and more Material You support, an improved camera interface, and faster fingerprint unlock support. Nothing also says your apps will start faster, your phone will use less power when in standby, and a new Self Repair feature will see your phone undergo regular system dumps and flushes to keep it performant over the years.
OnePlus and Oppo
OnePlus has announced Android 13 and OxygenOS 13 for the OnePlus 8 and newer models, as well as the OnePlus Nord 2 and newer. As of September 2022, OnePlus has begun rolling out the stable build of OxygenOS 13 to the OnePlus 10 Pro.
The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro both started receiving the Android 13 update on November 10. Following that, the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T got their updates on November 15. Additionally, the OnePlus 10T got its Android 13 update on December 9
Parent company Oppo, on the other hand, was testing builds for the Find N and Find X-series phones. It has now rolled out a stable release of ColorOS 13 to the Find X5 Pro and the Find X5.
Sony Xperia
For the handful of folks rocking a Sony Xperia smartphone, Sony has detailed its initial rollout plans for Android 13. On November 2, the Sony Xperia Twitter account announced that it is “introducing the Android 13 Update with the latest features” first to the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV. The updates rolled out shortly after — featuring pretty much the same software experience you’ll find on any Pixel phone, give or take a few Google-exclusive features.
Sony was also spotted rolling out updates to the Xperia 5 III, Xperia 1 III, and Xperia Pro-1, albeit without an announcement.
Xiaomi
Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi will be releasing Android 13 with MIUI 14 first with the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, and then later with older Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco branded phones. Though the company has not made specific announcements about which devices are to get it first, we can expect its most recent flagship to be high on the totem pole. Xiaomi was already spotted testing Android 13 for the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, and Mi Pad 5 — the latter of which would benefit from Android 13’s large screen updates.
