German automotive manufacturer Audi recently unveiled a new concept SUV that can turn into a pickup truck on-demand. The “Actisphere” vehicle features a range of over 600 km, 800-volt charging technology, and no local emissions. Not only that, but the futuristic crossover features support for augmented reality (AR) technology.

Sony is reportedly lowering near term sales figures for its upcoming PSVR 2 headset, allegedly halving initial sales projections based on lackluster preorders. Slated to launch on February 22nd, Sony was expected to produce an initial run of two million PSVR 2 headsets, however a recent Bloomberg report maintains the company has reduced those forecasts to just one million in the first quarter.

Meta and its child-studio Ready at Dawn today announced plans to shut down the popular free-to-play multiplayer game Echo VR , with plans to turn off severs come August 1st. Echo VR has had a storied journey, having originally launched as an Oculus Rift exclusive title all the way back in 2017. In 2020 the game made the leap to Quest, allowing cross-play multiplayer between Rift and Quest players.

Horizon Worlds , Meta’s social VR platform for Quest users, is expanding with alpha tests of new members-only spaces, allowing creators to manage up to 150 card-carrying members in their private worlds. Meta says it’s also gearing up to release Horizon Worlds on non-Quest devices for the first time. Meta is now rolling out alpha access to its new members-only worlds, which aims to let creators build and cultivate a space in Horizon Worlds.

Meta-owned Ready At Dawn shocked fans of Echo VR with the announcement that the game will shut down. The multiplayer game’s servers will be turned off this August, ending support after six years as Ready at Dawn moves onto its next project. The shutdown applies to both Echo Arena and Echo Combat. Released as a standalone multiplayer game in 2017 built on top of some of the zero-g gameplay seen in Lone Echo , Echo VR became a standout title for Quest headsets with full release in 2020.

A new report from Bloomberg suggested Sony is “disappointed” with early pre-orders for its upcoming PSVR 2 headset, leading the company to reduce shipments ahead of launch. Bloomberg’s report suggests Sony reduced projections “dramatically” for its initial PSVR 2 launch after disappointing pre-order numbers. Another report today from Gamesindustry.biz, however, seemed to refute Bloomberg.

In June 2022, a viral livestock disease originated from Indonesia was detected at Australia’s Adelaide Airport. Thankfully the virus was inactive and cannot be transmitted.
