Mozilla Launches iOS App to Experiment With WebAR

The Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organization behind Mozilla Firefox web browser, just made their experimental WebXR Viewer app available for download on iOS devices , letting developers quickly experiment with web-based AR built with web technologies and ARKit. According to a blogpost announcing the app, the WebXR Viewer lets you view web pages created using Mozilla’s own JavaScript library that features sample code for a proposed API for building AR and VR applications in web brows

Firewall Zero Hour is an upcoming team-based, tactical multiplayer FPS for PlayStation VR from First Contact Entertainment, the makers of Rom: Extraction (2016). The game, which pits two teams of mercenaries against each other in objective-based attack/defend missions, is coming exclusively to PlayStation VR in 2018. Revealed on stage at PlayStation Experience 2017, the multiplayer shooter features 4v4 matches using either the DualShock 4 controller or PS Aim.

It is being live streamed on YouTube. From 7 to 8 a.m., Pacific time, the developers will discuss the latest 0.9 release of OpenSim. Panel members include developers Robert Adams, Melanie Milland and Ubit Umarov with AvaCon founder Joyce Bettencourt moderating the panel.

OpenSim hosting company Dreamland Metaverse received the highest scores for performance, support, stability and its user interface in this year’s hosting providers survey for the fourth year in a row, followed by Zetamex Network , DigiWorldz and 3DLES. There were 36 responses total to this year’s hosting survey, which asks grid owners about their hosting providers.

OpenSimulator’s core developers said that they’ve gone pretty much as far as they can with the server code, and what the project needs is new people — and a new viewer. “My own kids say that it looks ancient,” core developer Melanie Thielker said at the developer panel that kicked off this year’s OpenSimulator Community Conference.
