VRScout

You can now watch a 2D video version of Björk’s latest VR music experience. This isn’t Björk’s first VR rodeo, and it likely won’t be the last. The Icelandic art-pop singer released the full version of the VR music video for Notget, off of her 2015 LP, Vulnicara , after releasing a teaser for the video last November. Slightly over the six-minute mark, the video features an animated, armored avatar of Björk that moves and dances underwater in an exotic oceanic world.

The Future of eLearning in 2022: A Sensitive Eye for Authentic Translation and Localization

Speaker: Chris Paxton McMillin, President of D3 Training Solutions

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.

Peter Molyneux Worries VR is Being ‘Oversold to Consumers’ Before the Industry is Ready

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

Few video game industry icons are as well-known as Peter Molyneux. He’s the mind behind the entire “God game” genre for the most part, having released the very first Populous all the way back in 1989 for the Amiga. Since then he has gone on to work on other God game titles such as Black & White , as well as the popular roleplaying game (RPG) series, Fable.

Upcoming Steam Changes Could Improve VR Content Saturation

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

When PC VR headsets first launched a year ago now, we worried that there wouldn’t be enough support from developers, and Oculus Rift and HTC Vive owners would be facing a content drought. In the end, the opposite turned out to be true. In the past year well over 1,000 pieces of VR content have released for Vive and Rift on Steam. We’ve seen loads of great games like Fantastic Contraption and Arizona Sunshine hit the platform over that time but there have been a lot of lackluster titl

Lightsabers Come to Robo Recall With This Fan-Made Star Wars Mod

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

Robo Recall is extremely fun in its own right with some of the best visuals we’ve seen on any headset and super-tight robot shooting gameplay. You’ll unload countless bullets into the chests of thousands of evil metallic husks in your quests to rack up the most points in your rampage. But one of the best features the game has, without a doubt, isn’t even really a feature — it’s the massive modding community.

Samsung Won’t Say Whether The Galaxy S8 Will Work With Daydream

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

Samsung revealed its long-awaited Galaxy S8 smartphone last week but, while it supports the company’s Gear VR headset, there was no mention of another major player in the mobile VR market: Google Daydream. When Daydream was announced last year Google revealed Samsung as one of a number of partners working on the platform. Many of those other companies have since revealed Daydream-ready smartphones or even their own take on a Daydream VR headset, but we still haven’t seen what Samsung

Oculus Studios’ A Night Sky Is A Peaceful Showcase Of VR’s Power

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

I’d be willing to bet that in some sort of all-encompassing list of ‘Things Most Looked At In VR,” a starry night’s sky ranks highly. There’s no more obvious and immediate source of beauty on the entire planet, after all, and some of us see it every time we boot up our HTC Vives. But, after over a year of star gazing in VR, how do you maintain that same sense of wonder you first felt when you tilted your head upwards?

The CaptoGlove Is A VR Hand Controller Already Funded On Kickstarter

Whether by haptic claws or well-designed VR controllers like the Oculus Touch, there’s a mission to bring an intricate level of control to VR involving natural interaction with our hands. Since kids, we’ve emulated different devices with our hands like making a gun for cops and robber with index finger and thumb extended from a fist. The CaptoGlove, a wearable piece of tech fully funded on Kickstarter , is taking that idea and bringing gesture-based gaming and computing to life.

Hands-On With Star Trek: Bridge Crew and the Original Starship Enterprise

UploadVR Between Realities podcast

Before setting out to work on a VR project it’s important to hone in and focus on something specific as a core mission. Do you want to create something that’s simple and fun? Do you want to make people think, or feel something? Or maybe your goal is to recreate something specific with an authentic representation. That last point — authenticity — is the goal behind Star Trek: Bridge Crew from Ubisoft and Red Storm and from everything I’ve seen thus far, they’ve

Bolverk Games needs to learn some lessons about the internet. Sure, it can be a harsh place, but if there’s one thing that social feeds love, it’s animals. How the studio arrived at the conclusion that blowing up adorable kittens would be a laugh remains a mystery to me, but last year’s Kittypocalypse was still a mechanically enjoyable if unremarkable VR game.

Speaker: Nik Gowing, Brenda Laurel, Sheridan Tatsuno, Archie Kasnet, and Bruce Armstrong Taylor

With 191 country signatories to the Paris Climate Agreement now hard at work in the race to zero carbon by 2050, much of the heavy lifting in ecosystem sustainability falls on the shoulders of the world's densely populated urban centers.
