Immersed introduces refundable Visor deposits: $500 for 2.5K per eye or $750 for 4K per eye

Immersed, the leading spatial computing company, has announced that preorders are now open for their low-cost XR glasses, the Visor. Customers can secure their Visor by placing a fully refundable deposit.

The Visor, introduced in August, is a compact productivity headset equipped with OLED microdisplays, inside-out tracking, HD color passthrough, hand tracking, and eye tracking. It is set to be released in 2024, supporting Windows, Mac, and Linux. Immersed boasts an onboard chipset and battery, enabling wireless functionality, and has integrated Qualcomm's inside-out tracking technology.

While Immersed currently offers a free app for various VR headsets, such as Meta Quest, Vive Focus 3, and Pico 4, allowing users to view PC monitors and spawn virtual extra monitors, the Visor is specifically designed as a dedicated device for enhanced productivity. The software is tailored to optimize this specific use case, distinguishing it from general-purpose headsets. Immersed describes the Visor as a result of strategic collaborations with Qualcomm, Intel for PC functionality, and an undisclosed AR/VR tech giant, which will be revealed later this year.

Immersed emphasizes the comfort of the Visor, stating it is designed for all-day wear, compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and lighter than a typical smartphone. The Visor will be available in two variants: one with 2.5K per eye OLED microdisplays, and another with 4K per eye. Pricing for the Visor 2.5K starts at $500, while the Visor 4K is priced at $750. Immersed is also offering a limited-time "Founder's Edition Visor 4K" at a similar price range, which may align closely with the final pricing.

Similar to Bigscreen Beyond, the Visor will be custom-built to match each buyer's interpupillary distance, ensuring optimal comfort and visual experience. Immersed clarified that once the face scanning process begins to create a user's personalized Visor, the deposit generally becomes non-refundable, with exceptions handled on a case-by-case basis.

In addition to pricing and preorders, Immersed released actual images of the Visor, showcasing its physical design. These images provide an authentic glimpse of the product, distinguishing them from previous renders.
