Art Exhibit Launches Virtual Museum Using Microsoft Hololens

Augmented reality brings this seemingly empty Manhattan gallery to life. Thanks to a collaboration between online art platform Artsy and Pace Galleries Amsterdam design firm Studio Drift, the long-running Armory Show will be home to an completely digital museum only viewable in augmented reality. Running now until March 5th, the Concrete Storm uses the Microsoft HoloLens headsets to digitally project a catalog of virtual art via an immersive mixed reality experience.

Oculus Reveals New Rift and Gear VR Games for 2017

Oculus has officially announced their slate of games for 2017. At GDC 17 in San Francisco, we were able to try each one. Alongside the many announcements and demos at last week’s GDC, Oculus had a few major ones to share. $100 price cuts to the Rift and Touch ( bringing the total “all-in” price to $600 ), the launch of Robo Recall for free to Touch users, and an official showing of games scheduled to be released in 2017.

At GDC 2017 last week, I saw two promising new types of experimental locomotion in VR. First was Sprint Vector , which greatly surprised me at its comfort, speed, and fun. And then there was VELOCIBEASTS. The teleporting movement we see in many of today’s VR games is a crutch.
