Today I’m very proud to publish an interview with Jan Goetgeluk, the CEO of Virtuix. Virtuix is one of the first VR startups I got to hear about when I started with VR. I was doing full-body VR with Kinects at Immotionar, when Virtuix started its Kickstarter campaign and generated a lot of hype. I still remember their first trailer with Palmer Luckey trying their device.

eMagin, the US-based developer and manufacturer of OLED microdisplays for AR/VR headsets, announced a merger agreement with Samsung Display, a subsidiary of the Korean tech giant. The company announced in a press statement that Samsung will acquire all outstanding shares of eMagin common stock on a fully diluted basis for $2.08 per share in cash, totaling approximately $218 million.

A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman includes some interesting claims about the history of Apple's head mounted displays development effort. Gurman's report cites "people familiar with a development process that spread over seven years" as saying Apple CEO Tim Cook was originally "adamant in his preference for augmented reality, preferably in the form of lightweight glasses.

Stealth startup Sightful today revealed Spacetop , an “augmented reality laptop” that turns a pair of AR goggles into a large virtual desktop computing environment.

Samsung on Thursday said it had started high volume production DRAM chips on its latest 12nm fabrication process. The new manufacturing node has allowed Samsung to reduce the power consumption of its DRAM devices, as well as decrease their costs significantly compared to its previous-generation node. According to Samsung's announcement, the company's 12nm fabrication process is being used to produce 16Gbit DDR5 memory chips.
