Last week, I traveled to the Houston Area Safety Council in Pasadena, Texas, to put Industrial Training International VR’s new crane simulator through its paces. While ITI has been training crane operators, riggers, and signallers for 30 years, the inclusion of VR in their training programs is a recent development. To test the effectiveness of their VR crane simulator ITI offered to let me—someone who has never operated heavy machinery in their life—spend an hour training with the system

NullSpace VR are poised to launch a new haptic vest focused toward immersive, virtual reality gaming, via Kickstarter soon. The Hardlight suit integrates 16 haptic pads that allow you to feel directional impact linked to actions inside the VR experience. We’re all for amping up immersion on Road to VR , via whatever means necessary frankly. But our experiences in the world of wearable haptics as a mean to do so has not been exactly stellar so far.

As usual, Microsoft is firing first with its press conference this E3, but it’s doing so even earlier than anticipated. While the company usually rules the headlines on the Monday morning of the biggest week in gaming, this year it’s putting itself even further ahead of Sony’s traditional Monday evening conference (assuming it takes place at that time again), airing on Sunday, June 11th, at 2:00 PM PDT.

To avoid awkward and sometimes disastrous learning content, instructional designers must use authentic translation in the right context to get optimal results. For example, even a simple phrase like “got milk” translates to “are you lactating” in Mexico. Can you imagine what a straight translation might do to your course? With over 317 million people in the US and over 6.7 billion potential customers in the world, personalizing training seems logical.

After our review of OnePlus 3 and 3T, and a little disappointment in the VR department , we decided to look for a phone with that can mix a good price with a better screen. After discussing with several vendors and their retail / e-tail outfits, we came across a few good ones. If the price point is set around $500, we came to conclusion that in that price bracket, there are just two really good phones with high quality displays.

Peter Cuneo, former CEO of Marvel Entertainment, has joined virtual reality and augmented reality startup Uncorporeal Systems as chairman. The move shows that VR is already well on its way. The field is expected to become a $25 billion industry by 2021, according to tech advisor Digi-Capital. San Francisco-based Uncorporeal Systems will tap Cuneo’s vast experience as it expands its business of making technology tools for AR and VR.
