It appears Valve has been developing a standalone XR headset, codenamed ‘Deckard’, for some time. Now, an industry insider has apparently gotten a peek at the headset’s design, calling it “quite amazing,” further noting it’s potentially arriving sometime next year. Stan Larroque , Founder of XR hardware company Lynx,confirmed in a recent X post the he’s actually seen the design for Valve’s next XR headset.

Meta’s latest Horizon OS update for Quest (v76) introduced a new Battery Saver setting as default, which has led users to experience frame rate issues in apps and games. Now, Meta CTO Andrew ‘Boz’ Bosworth says the company is rolling out a fix and “taking a serious look” at how OS updates are communicated in the future.

Brendan Iribe, the CEO of Oculus between 2014 and 2016, says he didn't think the 3DoF Oculus Go headset was a good idea. Iribe joined Oculus as CEO near the end of its Kickstarter, and was declared a co-founder alongside Palmer Luckey, Nate Mitchell, and Michael Antonov. Iribe held the CEO title through the launch of the Oculus Rift until just after the Touch controllers shipped, when he stepped down to lead the Rift PC VR teams.

Laser Dance, the mixed reality obstacle game from Cubism's creator, will launch in early access this fall on Quest 3 & 3S. Originally targeting a 2024 launch, Laser Dance adapts to your room and involves dodging lasers to reach and press buttons on your walls. It was later delayed , with developer Thomas Van Bouwel citing Meta's evolving APIs and scene drift issues.

If you're unfamiliar, Xreal devices are display glasses that act like monitors, taking in power and HDMI or DisplayPort over USB-C from your existing devices and displaying this input on a virtual screen in front of you. The current Xreal One series have built-in 3DoF tracking, meaning the screen stays in place when you rotate your head.
