‘YouTube VR’ Finally Comes to PC, Bringing the Platform’s 360 Videos to Vive, Rift, and Windows VR

It’s been a long while coming, but Google has finally launched a YouTube VR app on PC. The app is now available on Steam, officially for the Vive (but also functional with Rift and Windows VR headsets). Google expects YouTube VR to remain in Early Access through 2018 as they continue to develop it based on feedback. As one of the largest video content libraries on the planet, demand for being able to watch YouTube content in a VR headset has been understandably strong.

GOTY contender cat dating simulator Purrfect Date is available now on Steam.

Published by Bossa Studios ( I Am Bread , Surgeon Simulator ), Purrfect Date mixes dark British comedy influences with (decidedly furry) dating sim mechanics. Throughout the six main chapters, the player adopts the role of several freshly employed research assistants on an island almost entirely populated by cats and is tasked with uncovering the location’s shady history.

YouTube VR arrives on Steam, but users report major bugs

YouTube just launched a virtual reality app for Steam, making it available to HTC Vive users. That’s good news, except that many of those users are reporting some pretty serious bugs, some of them so problematic that the app repeatedly crashes, making it unusable. A University of Toronto graduate student is seemingly the first to utilize virtual reality in helping to present research findings during a biochemistry research lecture. PhD student Aidin Balo and his PhD supervisor Professor Oliver Ernst delivered a lecture to 200 people in 2016 at a conference in Berlin, which had the audience use cardboard-based tools in conjunction with their smartphones to immerse themselves in a VR experience.
