The depiction of technology in Black Mirror often highlights the role of human greed and capitalism in shaping our relationship with technology. While some of the concepts explored in the show are already becoming a reality, the rapid acceleration of unregulated technology could have serious consequences for humanity if we do not approach it with a human-first mindset.
As we continue to prioritize profit and progress over the well-being of individuals and society as a whole, we risk creating technology that is not designed to serve us. Instead, it could perpetuate inequality, reinforce harmful biases, and further erode our privacy and autonomy.
It is essential that we think as a collective and prioritize building technology that puts human values and ethics at the forefront. This requires smart regulation and oversight without hampering it's growth with a shift in the way we approach technological development. By building tech that is human-centered and designed to serve all members of society, we can create a future that is both innovative and equitable. Neglecting to do so, however, could have dire consequences for our collective well-being and the future of humanity.
