In 1995, Nintendo launched the Virtual Boy, an at-home “VR” device featuring stereoscopic 3D graphics, a red monochrome display, and 22 questionable games; I’m looking at you Waterworld. . I myself have fond memories of remaining hunched over my kitchen table actively destroying my retinas with hours of games like Mario’s Tennis.

Beat Games, the Czechia-based studio known for VR’s most popular game Beat Saber (2018), revealed it’s managed to generate nearly $100 million in revenue over the course of last year thanks to the block-slashing rhythm game. Czech language publication CzechCrunch confirmed that Beat Games earned 2.3 billion Czech koruna in revenue last year alone, or around $97 million USD.

PSVR 2 Will Use Tobii Eye Tracking, Company Confirms

The upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset will use eye tracking from specialist group, Tobii. Tobii itself confirmed the news in a press release today. This follows on from a February 2022 announcement that the company was “in negotiation” with Sony to be integrated into the new headset.
