Doctor Who: The Edge of Time , an upcoming interactive VR experience from Oculus and BBC Studios, is set to launch September 29th on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift/ Rift S, HTC Vive, and Vive Cosmos. The feature-length cinematic experience will include a handful of classic Doctor Who villains, including the nefarious Dalek and endlessly-creepy Weeping Angels.

At San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) this year, Oculus and BBC Studios are giving US crowds their first chance to demo the upcoming VR game Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The demo will be available at the BBC AMERICA Booth (#4129), which also includes a sneak peek of the show’s beloved space-time travel device, the TARDIS. SDCC is taking place from July 18th – 21st.

James Murdoch has reportedly invested $20M in location-based entertainment. According to report made by Bloomberg this past weekend, a person “familiar with the transaction” who “asked not to be identified because the matter isn’t yet public,” claims that James Murdoch, former CEO of 21st Century Fox and heir to media mogul Rupert Murdoch, has reportedly made a $20 million investment in location-based VR provider The VOID, making it the British-Americans largest investment to-date.

In May, British developer Maze Theory revealed work on a virtual reality (VR) project for one of the BBC’s biggest IP’s Doctor Who. As much as VRFocus and everyone else outside of Facebook/Oculus would love to know how many headsets have officially been shipped, those figures are never likely to be shared. Sure there are analytics firms making reasonably informed guesses, occasionally rough headset numbers can be extrapolated from software sales figures, yet neither are concrete, that can only happen from the manufacturer.
