In honor of The Notorious B.I.G.’s 50th birthday, Meta is hosting a VR concert experience next month that aims to bring together a host of musical guests alongside a realistic avatar of the Brooklyn-born rapper, who left this mortal coil back in 1997.

The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit: A VR Concert Experience is set to take place on December 16th, bringing to Meta Horizon Worlds what the company calls a “hyper-realistic avatar” of Biggie, set to take place in a virtual recreation of ’90s Brooklyn called ‘The Brook’.

Following a narrative journey written and voiced by American writer and music journalist Touré, the concert will feature hits from Biggie’s catalog, including guest performances by Sean “Diddy” Combs, The Lox, Latto, Nardo Wick, Lil’ Cease, DJ Clark Kent, and more.

The VR version will be exclusively available to Quest owners via Meta Horizon Worlds, but will also be broadcast in 2D form via the official Notorious B.I.G. Facebook page if you don’t own either a Quest 2 or Quest Pro.

          Anyway, the whole year it’s been pretty much Contractors VR for me.

    They are just trying to be hip. Just like Disney is using Run for hip hop Christmas stuff like the nutcracker. That’s not new. But there are those that liked notorious bigs stuff. I did. And I’m from the west coast. Not all of it but he had some good stuff. It’s funny how today we look back and use today’s words to describe people. Surprised you didn’t use the word gaslight in your comment as well.

    Anyway, I liked Depeche Mode as well. Grew up on them among other bands. And I’m black here in the States. But I guess cocaine, heroin, alcohol, ecstacy, and prescription drug use in DM and The Smiths make them great role models don’t it?

    It’s not all sweet and candy there either. And they all had questionable lyrics or titles that might have offended somebody. Including biggy.

    This will result in about 10 of the weirdest people checking it out on horizon worlds for a few minutes at best, seeing that yep, VR is still sh&t, and then head back to VR Chat to continue harassing strangers online because they have no parental guidance in real life.

    Just because a spoiled little boy (Zuckerberg) has a lot of money and a vision, doesn’t mean it’s real. Billions spent on this. Anyone, just go into that horizon thing he’s built and then come here with a straight face and tell me that’s the future.

    If it is… that’s horrendous and terrifying. If you think mental health is bad now, just wait until sh&t like this grabs everyone’s attention.
