Qualcomm today announced the latest addition to its fleet: the Snapdragon AR2. Built for AR glasses, the chipset contains a processor, co-processor, and connectivity. It joins the Snapdragon XR chips used across 60+ AR and VR headsets, splitting off into AR-dedicated design. It’s a triple-chip solution for thin AR glasses wirelessly powered by a phone, laptop, or puck. Neither Niantic nor Qualcomm mentioned what device is actually running the apps on this reference design headset, but a large controller is visible in the trailer.

Last Friday, Chinese augmented reality (AR) smart glasses manufacturer Nreal updated its Nreal Nebula operating system (OS) to support Apple Macs in a move which significantly improves productivity opportunities for the firm’s Air and Light product lineup. US computer graphics and components enterprise NVIDIA teamed up with Microsoft last week to build a massive AI cloud supercomputer using the latter’s Azure cloud computing service. It will also leverage NVIDIA’s A100 and H100 processors, Quantum-2 InfiniBand network, and AI Enterprise software. Microsoft Azure is the first platform to tap NVIDIA’s Quantum-2 Infiniband high-speed data and simulation processing and the first public cloud to use the technologies.
