Apple's AirPods Max are $120 off for the first time since last Black Friday

It's been a minute since they've been this cheap.

SAVE $120: The Apple AirPods Max typically retail for $549, but Amazon has them on sale for just $429 as of June 17. That's a 22% savings and a match of their all-time low price from last Black Friday.

No need to wait until Prime Day for a tempting deal on Apple's priciest headphones.

As of June 17, Amazon has the AirPods Max on sale for a mere $429, or $120 off their suggested retail price of $549. They haven't been this cheap since last year's Black Friday shopping season, according to data on the price-tracking site camelcamelcamel, so definitely don't wait until its big savings event in July to scoop up a pair. (It's hard to see them dipping any lower than this, anyway.)

Available in pink, blue, silver, and Apple's classic space gray finish at the time of writing — the green ones were still hovering at $479.99 when we last checked — the AirPods Max marked Apple's first foray into the world of non-Beats-branded over-ear headphones when they came out in December 2020. They earned high praise from former Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar for offering "great sound quality, ideal battery life, easy controls, and a stylish design," but got docked a few points for their size — comfort-wise, your mileage may vary depending on the shape of your head and whether you wear glasses.

Their MSRP is an obvious deterrent, too, but Amazon's current sale pricing does its best to alleviate that issue. All in all, said Stolyar, "if you've been holding out for a pair of over-ear headphones from Apple specifically for the seamless connectivity to the rest of your devices, and they fit you comfortably, then you can't go wrong."
