John Carmack, legendary programmer and key player in the Oculus Rift genesis story, announced recently that he’s won a decisive battle within Facebook to finally release root access to Oculus Go, the 3DOF standalone VR headset launched in 2018. Carmack says in a recent tweet that users can expect to gain root access “soon,” which will be made available via an unlocked OS build for the Oculus Go headset that can be side loaded.
