Oculus has provided the ‘Touch Accessory Guidelines 1.0’ for download, which contains 3D CAD files of the Touch VR controller. This data can be used to help designers and manufacturers create new accessories that integrate with the Touch hardware.

Available for download on the Oculus developer website, the Touch Accessory Guidelines 1.0 include technical drawings and STEP files of the controller’s exterior surfacing and battery compartment. In addition, it includes data for the Rock Band VR connector, an adapter included with every Oculus Touch package, enabling the design of devices which could use the adapter to attach a Touch controller.

You can take a look at the CAD files here for the Rock Band adapter, the exterior surface, and the battery compartment. The battery compartment model is the most complex, as it includes many of the internal components and surfaces, which can be highlighted using the Model Browser tool.

oculus-touch-review-9
The Rockband adapter holds the Touch controller neatly to a Rockband guitar, but it could be used to attach the controller to other accessories too.

The new guidelines add to the existing Rift Accessories Guidelines documentation, which include sections for the headset, Audio Module and Facial Interface. While the Touch section doesn’t offer much in the way of controller-specific tips for accessory makers (perhaps ‘don’t obstruct the tracking ring’ was too obvious!), only detailing the electrical specifications, the general guidelines written for the Rift headset can still be interpreted and applied to Touch accessories. Avoid using LEDs in mounted accessories (to prevent tracking conflicts), keep in mind comfort is paramount, and keep in mind that the fit of accessories not only impacts physical comfort but can also impact how users experience content in VR.

Valve has been proactive in opening their tracking technology to third parties for accessory development, and HTC are offering a dedicated Vive Tracker’ for tracked accessories. Oculus is well behind on its promise to open up its tracking API to third-parties, but using the Touch controllers as a self-contained tracker at least gets the ball rolling.

oculus-touch-review-15Interestingly Touch is not much larger than the Vive Tracker, as Tactical Haptics has shown. Perhaps one of the biggest issues with using Touch as a device to track a dedicated VR peripheral is the lack of input/output options between the peripheral and the controller. Peripherals made for use with Touch would need to make use of the controller’s own buttons to input/output to the game at hand, or likely a separate wireless connection to the host PC.

Oculus are beyond desperate now. They’ve reduced the price of their Rift and Touch controllers. They’re “hampering developers” https://uploadvr.com/htc-oculus-exclusives-hampering-developers/ and now they’ve published CAD files to get press.

Don’t support Oculus. Oculus’ founder, Palmer Luckey, financed an alt-right pro-Trump group with Milo Yiannopoulos. Google Oculus Trump.

    • Walextheone

Pretty sure Trump don’t give a damn of what vr headset some tech nerds use.
You come off as very disturbed individual with some sort of compulsive disorder.
Show me on the doll where the bad man touched you.

      • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

        Q. Did Palmer Luckey finance an alt-right pro-Trump group that included Milo Yiannopoulos?

        Q. Are Oculus/Facebook keeping Palmer out of the picture in the hope of us forgetting about Palmer financing an alt-right pro-Trump group that included Milo Yiannopoulos?

        • Walextheone

Q: What does that have to do with “CAD Files for Custom-made Accessories”

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

You can’t answer the questions because the answer to both is Yes right?

            A. Oculus are desperate for press and sales as their sales to date are pretty low. The lowest in fact. Due in no small part to the companies founder financing an alt-right pro-Trump group that included Milo Yiannopoulos. The release of the CAD files is just Oculus trying to stay relevant.

          • ShiftyInc

Fixed it for you: Oculus are desperate for press and sales as their sales to date are pretty low i think. The lowest in my opinion. (Facts are things you can prove, no sales numbers by any PC VR headset have been released)

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

No the sales of the Oculus Rift have been really low as pc VR customers are going with the Vive. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey Maybe customers don’t want their money going to some alt-right pro-Trump group?

So like I said, Oculus have sold the least amount of all the VR headsets available atm.

          • ShiftyInc

That is again no proof of low sales. It only shows people with the Vive use Steam VR more. Wonder why that is. keep trying though.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

What are you saying? That there must be thousands of Oculus Rift users that haven’t used it with SteamVR?

          • CURTROCK

Actually, you are the one who is coming off as desperate. What are you trying to accomplish with your 1 woman crusade against Oculus?

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

            Isn’t it obvious Curtrock?

          • spo8

Very likely, yeah. Especially as it’s being bought by a more mainstream crowd that will only use the official store that comes with the headset.

          • KUKWES

Steam must be desperate too since they released their light house tracking. all I hear is nonsense from someone full of hate.

          • ipollute

I still don’t get what the actions and views of one man, has anything to do with a consumer product. That’s like cutting out bananas out of your diet because you don’t agree with the views of the founder of Chiquita banana. Get a life loser.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

People don’t want to buy the Rift as they don’t want their money going to an alt-right pro-Trump group. Google Oculus Trump.

          • ipollute

What are you talking about? That’s gotta be the lamest crap on earth. Half the country is divided. Half love Trump and half hate him. So are you saying that the other half (the half that love trump) will buy the oculus solely on the basis that someone who founded the oculus supports Donald? You People are so brainwashed. Stop reading into shit too much. Oculus is a fine product at an affordable price with great content. Who cares about the dudes point of view, he is sure as he’ll entitled to his own views and thoughts. That’s the problem with you hipsters, always want to force people to view the world as you do, and when someone disagrees, you label them as evil. Lucky palmer (and I don’t know for a fact) might be the nicest guy you ever meet with just a different perspective than you. The point is, you don’t know who he is except for the little snippet that you read on the good old reliable net.

          • “Half the country is divided” Actually, just under half the people in the country *who voted*, voted for Trump. The majority who voted, voted for Clinton. THEN there’s the half the country that didn’t vote; many because they are frustrated with how broken the democratic piece of our “democratic-republic” (“…this republic, for which it stands…”) clearly is. This “election” only served to prove them right and make matters worse.

Of course, it’s inevitable. There’s too much variety in people and people change as well as serve their own interests (which is true the vast majority of the time despite how it might look at times) so democracies are doomed to fail when too large a part of the population are unhappy and start “voting themselves the treasury”, or voting for socialism to an extent that those who provide (build businesses and pay taxes), start rebelling and the whole thing falls apart. It’s not a new pattern: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_democracy

The point is, Palmer made the mistake of showing an alignment with Trump and he represents a product whos primary consumer (millennials and progressives) isn’t a fan of Trump. His error wasn’t in the contribution so much as his contribution becoming public knowledge (or even the idea because that’s really all it takes).

          • ipollute

Well my ceo is Republican and clearly a Trump follower, I’m not. But that isn’t making me want to quit my job and apparently it isn’t making him wanting to fire me. It just means a difference of opinion. How about you accept that and stop putting people in this basket of evil due solely on perspective.

          • Cl

Its like 2% difference. You can say half and not be nit picky about it.

Just wondering, how do you know millennials and progressives are the primary consumer? Also how do you know the half that didn’t vote did so because they are frustrated?

          • Get Schwifty!

Hmmm…. never mind the fact the reason Hillary lost was two key voting segments turned out in relatively low numbers… Millennials and Blacks both failed to turn out…. and to say someone “made an error” because they don’t support your politics smacks of a very oppressive way of thinking. Liberal progressives love to invoke freedom of speech to support their arguments but are all to happy to stop someone else the minute the talk goes against any of their cherished views.

The reality is, “progressives” are actually slowly losing ground, much like a tide that has come in, but is now slowly on the way out but the high point has just passed but its hard to see yet.

Why? Because quite honestly they have the lowest birth rates of all the groups and their “culture” is simply not being passed on despite control of the mass media and the public school systems. It’s hard to see right now, but the reality is their “converts” are less each year, and I can tell you for a fact Millennials are just about as divided statistically as the US as a whole.. The high-point was made possible by control of the media and the message over a 30-year period, where for the most part alternative viewpoints were snuffed out much in the manner you are trying to maintain. Now, with the Internet, they have lost the bully pulpit they setup through conventional media where any questioning of their wisdom was instantly cut down.

On top of that are competing systems, like China’s government which is pushing the idea that liberal Democratic capitalism “failed” and is inferior to their effective one-party rule (which of course is only made possible by giving up civil liberties – like freedom of speech, etc) and becoming a quasi-fascist state to effect economic growth, not to mention the religious totalitarian states of the Middle East where even dissenting religious opinion is stamped out. The irony is, these forms are effectively the system “progressives” ultimately seek if you back them into a corner over a drink… that any other views are inferior and therefore only they, and they alone, are fit to rule over the views of others and are self-justified in shouting down (or worse) any dissenting opinion. How “progressive” indeed…

          • Andrew Jakobs

ohhhh please, you are really mental….

          • KUKWES

its the reason i bought it

          • Actually, it’s more like cutting out Chiquita Bananas because you disagree with something related to the founder. Most people call that boycotting and it’s a great way to send a message as a consumer. It’s also called “voting with your dollars”.

You’re suggesting something akin to boycotting all of VR because of the founder concern with a single company which would be silly.

            Borken logic dude :)

          • ipollute

You know what sounds more illogical? Boycotting a company based on the views of single person, but in the same hand suggesting that you should buy an HTC which is founded by the Chinese. I mean, seriously, at least be consistent. And no, my logic is not flawed. If anyone, I don’t care who, gives me a product I am interested at a good price, I’m not gonna stop purchasing their product based solely on their perspective in life. Unless the dude physically harmed you, stole your wife, killed your kids, grow the fuck. Up. Adults disagree all the time. Nobody is saying palmer is correct with his assertions, but to vilify someone based on a disagreement is childish. I’m happy with my oculus and the content I’m being provided.

          • I never said I agreed with the boycott, I’m only addressing the broken logic and I’ve not inserted my opinions here so far, only facts/logic.

“Unless the dude physically harmed you, stole your wife, killed your kids, grow the fuck up”. Talk about inconsistency. You’re simultaneously speaking like an inarticulate and ignorant teenageer while telling me to grow up for recognizing and pointing out flawed logic. ;)

          • ipollute

You still failed to answer, the why buying an HTC is morally better than buying an oculus? GTFO with your BS.

          • I think you have me confused for someone that’s talking morals. Then again, maybe your name says it all and I should stop encouraging you? ;)

          • ipollute

Then why are you boycotting if not due to your moralistic views? What exactly is your stance? I think you’re just being a troll or just can’t answer the fucking question.

          • MasterElwood

            Dont answer that troll.

          • Walextheone

            Okey mr. mentally ill person.
Look at it this way. Chances are that pretty much every company in the U.S have some on the board or high up that voted for Trump.
With your “logic” applied, you can’t buy a single product without “supporting” Trump.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

The founder of Oculus didn’t just vote for Trump Walex, he financed an alt-right pro-Trump group which included Milo Yiannopoulos. Google Oculus Trump.

liste to me: NOBODY HERE GIVES A SHIT!

          • brandon9271

I hate Facebook with a passion but knowing Palmer is a conservative makes purchasing my Rift that much easier! Thanks for that!

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

No problem. While you’re wearing it, just remember that Palmer Luckey financed an alt-right pro-Trump group that Milo Yiannopoulos was involved with. Google Oculus Trump.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

            How /pol/ of you.

        • Doctor Bambi

Understanding that you’re in full on protest mode, and nothing I say will have any chance of swaying your opinion…

Q1- Perhaps indirectly, but directly, no. Luckey’s intent was to fund meme’s targeted at Hillary Clinton that he thought were clever and funny. He is a supporter of Gary Johnson.

Q2- No, that is pure speculation and there is no evidence to back it up. Palmer’s financing scandal won’t be forgotten because Palmer is out of the picture. It will be forgotten because it has no baring on Oculus or their business moving forward.

Luckey came into possession of large sums of money in his early 20s and it led to some dumb decisions. He has publicly apologized for his actions and has stated he won’t be providing any further funds to Nimble America. He’s a kid who made a mistake. Let’s move on already.

          • Michael Jones

Man… This thread sure took a turn.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

Doctor Bambi, you really should Google Oculus Trump.

Palmer said in his Facebook statement that he was going to vote for Gary Johnson. That was a lie.

I posted a link earlier (comment was removed?) to a YouTube video that features Palmer Luckey at a Trump rally wearing a pro-Trump T-shirt. Go on YouTube and search for Chaos in Costa Mesa After Trump Rally and skip to 1:52.

And Palmer didn’t indirectly finance an alt-right pro-Trump group with Milo Yiannopoulos. He met Milo a year prior to him financing Nimble America. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/22/palmer-luckey-the-facebook-billionaire-secretly-funding-trump-s-meme-machine.html

          • Doctor Bambi

I was abreast of the issue as it unfolded, and now reviewing back over the plethora of articles, I’m still at the same conclusion. All I see is a heavily one sided media smear campaign and is far from the whole picture.

When you get into a position of significant monetary value, life becomes different. Everyone wants to be your friend. Everyone wants to have your ear for a second to discuss their ventures that need funding, especially when you’re tied to Silicon Valley. Some of those people are exceedingly good at manipulating you into things you never really had an inclination toward and it’s very easy to get in over your head, that’s all I see here.

On the forums and sub-reddits Palmer has frequented in the past, nothing about his mannerisms or talking points even remotely suggests he is an advocate for hate crimes or racial inequality. More to the point, he’s a passionate nerd who wholeheartedly believes in the good that VR will bring the entire human race.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

And your thoughts on Palmer at a Trump rally wearing a pro-Trump T-shirt?

If he was going to vote for Gary Johnson then why would he go to a Trump rally while wearing a pro-Trump T-shirt and then finance an alt-right pro-Trump group that included Milo Yiannopoulos?

            There’s a pattern to Palmer’s actions. https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/palmer-luckey-alt-right

          • Doctor Bambi

On the surface, Palmer at the Trump rally would seem to conclude that he is in fact a Trump supporter, but in the spirit of “12 Angry Men” we are missing a ton of context here, as there could certainly be reasons for being there in such a state without necessarily being a Trump supporter. Palmer has not made any official statement in regards to that video so it’s still rather inconclusive.

Palmer funded a group of guys who made internet memes targeting Clinton. It certainly doesn’t conclude he shares a belief system with Milo Yiannopoulos.

In regards to your link, sometimes the enemy of your enemy is your ally. If a Jill Stein supporter likes tweets defending Hillary Clinton, does that make them a Hillary supporter? Also, you’ll notice they only found liked pro-trump tweets dating back to March of 2015. If Palmer was an alt-right advocate, why aren’t there years of liked tweets and comments like these? Probably because he’s not and accidentally funded an alt-right affiliated group because the sudden influx of money from the Oculus buyout made him careless.

A lesson he has learned the hard way and paid dearly for. He was rightfully called out for it, he’s been punished in more ways than I can think, and now it’s time to let it go and move on.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

“Palmer funded a group of guys who made internet memes targeting Clinton. It certainly doesn’t conclude he shares a belief system with Milo Yiannopoulos.”

            The facts say otherwise Bambi:

July 19 2016 – Milo Yiannopoulos was banned from Twitter for an harassment campaign against Leslie Jones. Palmer Luckey would’ve known about that.

September 17 2016 – Nimble America “held a fundraising drive on Reddit, stating that all donations to Nimble America’s website or its boost .com fundraising site would be matched by Luckey within 48 hours.” Milo Yiannopoulos was involved with Nimble America. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/22/palmer-luckey-the-facebook-billionaire-secretly-funding-trump-s-meme-machine.html

“The news shocked the VR and tech community at large on Thursday night, but a look at Luckey’s Twitter activity reveals that he’s been openly in support of the alt-right and the bigotry that defines it since March.

Luckey has “liked” many alt-right memes and WikiLeaks-sanctioned conspiracy theories on Twitter, many of them from his girlfriend Nikki Moxxi, a Trump supporter and GamerGater.

Liking an islamophobic tweet is not the same as being islamophobic. A retweet is not an endorsement. People do and say a lot of dumb things on Twitter and that does not necessarily reflect their character. But from the Twitter presence of Luckey, a well-moneyed public figure and key player in the VR industry who holds a certain power and influence, a pattern emerges.” https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/palmer-luckey-alt-right

            Jeff Grubb/Venturebeat
“I’ve spoken with Luckey only a couple of times over the years, but we’re also friends on Facebook. That never really meant anything until July, when he responded to a news story I shared that points out that police deaths are more rare under President Barack Obama. Luckey claimed the story is “poorly written and poorly argued.” He also reiterated the argument the article was trying to debunk: that Obama’s criticism of the criminal justice system and support of Black Lives Matter protesters encouraged anti-police violence.

“The president should not be making public comments on specific cases before the facts are known, especially if he is going to take a side and appeal to emotion,” wrote Luckey. “He has done both repeatedly.”

I instantly recognized Luckey’s argument. It’s something you would read on extreme right-wing blogs like Breitbart. It’s the same logic you’d get from scrolling through the #AllLivesMatter hashtag on Twitter. It’s a meme you see repeated relentlessly by white supremacists on message boards like 4chan’s /pol/.” http://venturebeat.com/2016/09/23/im-not-surprised-palmer-luckey-is-funding-trumps-shitposts/

          • Doctor Bambi

Milo advocated the group, but he in no way was involved in the work they did or the content they put out. Nimble America bought billboards, and put anti-Hillary memes on them. There was nothing of white supremacy or hate speech in what they did. And it’s not impossible to believe a right leaning Gary Johnson supporter put funds into such a program if that was their mission, Clinton was his opponent as well.

If Milo and Palmer were on numerous occasions seen in public together, that might be something, but having a discussion with someone once does not immediately mean you share a belief system with them.

In regards to your last link, so disagreeing with the way Obama handled a law enforcement issue makes you an alt-right, white supremacist? Also, “>” is common syntax for quoting on Reddit of which has been his bread and butter for years. I disagree with this op-ed’s inference of Palmer’s political affiliations.

He has on numerous occasions talked about the good VR will bring all of humanity and he was the keynote speaker at Oculus’ own conference encouraging diversity in the VR development community. Those are not the words and actions of an alt-right, white supremacist.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

Milo Yiannopoulos didn’t just advocate the group Bambi. He was involved with Nimble America and was also an “honorary moderator on Reddit’s official Trump hub, called The_Donald.” http://www.inquisitr.com/3517784/milo-yiannopoulos-controversy-controversial-breitbart-editor-accused-of-trying-to-scamdonald-trump-supporters-with-nimble-america-pac/

He even vetted Palmer Luckey: “Milo Yiannopoulos has personally vetted NimbleRichMan [Palmer Luckey]” See Nimble America screenshot https://www.cnet.com/uk/news/facebook-palmer-luckey-oculus-rift-lie-nimble-america/

Palmer also communicated with Milo on Facebook http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/22/palmer-luckey-the-facebook-billionaire-secretly-funding-trump-s-meme-machine.html

The evidence speaks for itself Bambi. If you look at the info provided above and in previous comments you get a picture of who Palmer really is. But the most damning piece of evidence is the fact that Oculus and Facebook have hidden Palmer away for what, six months now?

          • Doctor Bambi

Milo lent legitimacy to the venture when people demanded proof that
it was little more than a cheap money grab. The closest we get to any
kind of context to their conversations is, “Hi guys, Milo here. I have
personally spoken with /u/NimbleRichMan and gotten to know him and his passion for Donald Trump and the Trump movement,” but of course we have to take this with a grain of salt because, “as some other users have pointed out, there isn’t confirmation that the username assigned to Yiannopoulos is actually being used by him and not another person who might have access to it.”

There is no evidence or statement in the dailybeast article that Palmer communicated with Milo on Facebook. ““I came into touch with them over Facebook,” Luckey said of the band of trolls behind the operation. “It went along the lines of ‘hey, I have a bunch of money. I would love to see more of this stuff.’ They wanted to build buzz and do fundraising.” This only reaffirms my point that he was interested in their mission of trolling Hillary, not their affiliation, there is no mention of Milo or alt-right or white supremacy in his wording.

Here’s a slice from an interview on Telegraph some months before the Daily Beast story dropped. “…he[Palmer] tells me the coverage is both a blessing and a curse, and he hopes that soon VR will be the story, not him. ‘I’m telling you in a few years I won’t be the face of the company like Steve Jobs was with Apple. I’ll go back to obscurity. I’ll be more like a Wozniak [Steve, the less public-facing co-founder of Apple].
‘This isn’t about me, it’s about something much, much bigger – bigger perhaps than any of us.’
It was always Palmer’s intention to get out of the Limelight. He’s a nerd, gamer, and gets a kick out of trolling people. He is not an alt-right activist.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

            Milo knew Palmer personally Bambi.

Milo’s Facebook statement: “A few days ago I was asked to confirm the identity of a billionaire I know personally.” http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1173561-nimble-america

As for Palmer going back to obscurity; The Daily Beast article on Palmer financing that alt-right pro-Trump group was published on 23 September 2016 http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/22/palmer-luckey-the-facebook-billionaire-secretly-funding-trump-s-meme-machine.html

Palmer Luckey disappeared into “obscurity” a day later.
            https://mobile.twitter.com/palmerluckey

Palmer hasn’t given a single interview since that Daily Beast article. He would’ve had to have answered some pretty tough questions and being the founder of Oculus, it wouldn’t have made him or the company he founded look good. So he published a statement on Facebook that nobody believed and then disappeared.

          • Doctor Bambi

Even if he did know Palmer personally, it doesn’t imply that the two share a belief system and there’s certainly nothing here to suggest the two have a history before this choice encounter.

While the media narrative concludes that Palmer is an alt-right pro-trump advocate, what I’ve tried to show above is that there’s more than a little grey area as to his real intentions.

The incredibly odd fact that Luckey personally reached out to DailyBeast first with this story. The RichNimbleMan account was subsequently deleted. Nimble America has gone completely silent. Palmer publicly apologized for his actions and the impact they had on the VR community. He lost the respect of many fans and colleagues. Palmer specifically elected not to show up at OC3, his companies most important conference of the year. These actions paint a Palmer who is ashamed and embarrassed by what he’s done.

This all definitely had an impact on Palmer’s timeline for leaving his public position. But the fact that it was his intention all along means he was already looking for an opportunity to do just that. Perhaps he imagined it being more elegant than this, but this is how the cards fell and maybe now was as good a time as any.

Who the F gives a F… you are the only one that keeps spamming this board (and propably others too) with your crap.. It’s not like Valve’s Gabe Newell is such a nice fellow…

    • OgreTactics

On one hand you are talking about the future most dangerous person of american: Milo.

On the other hand, fuck liberal regressive who are, as of right now, the most dangerous persons for society and democracy.

    • Arv

Good grief. Trump won, get over it.

As for Oculus being ‘desperate’, you may have a point if Facebook cut the price and took a loss on each unit of the Oculus Rift and Touch sold. This isn’t the case. They’re still breaking even on each unit sold thanks to Hans Hartmann becoming the new COO in May last year. Facebook headhunted him from Fitbit because he’s a specialist in logistics, manufacturing and supply chains.

Tbh I’m surprised that they didn’t have him or a person as skilled as him before the Rift launched. He managed to sort out the supply issues that the Rift had when it launched within 4 or 5 weeks of starting the job and has now negotiated better deals for the components that are supplied by third parties for the Rift and Touch controllers. This is why Oculus have been able to drop the price by 25%.

Facebook are fully aware that the Vive has been outselling the Rift by 2:1 but because HTC aren’t in a financial position to cut the cost of the Vive and make a loss on each unit sold, and because Valve’s technology is expensive to produce (new Lighthouses are $134.99 EACH to replace, the Vive controllers are $129.99 EACH to replace) they can’t negotiate better deals to cut the price.

Both HTC and LG executives will have been holding their heads in their hands when the Rift and Touch controllers price cuts were announced. LG are in a slightly better position than HTC because they manufacture display panels so despite it using Valve’s expensive technology they’ll probably be able to have their HMDs retail cheaper than the Vive (and will have the advantage of a comfortable head strap that people won’t have to pay $99 for to get a Rift-like experience) but unless HTC can do something I can see the Vive being finished as a viable commercial product.

The Rift and Touch controllers is $200 cheaper, has AAA quality content available for it for FREE and thanks to the Oculus SDK needs a less powerful PC to run it.

The cheaper HMDs are the more people will buy them. This is a GOOD thing for VR. Perhaps you should concentrate on that rather than obsessing over a US Presidential vote that didn’t turn out the way you wanted. He won. That’s the way the democracy cookie crumbles. Get over it.

      You have a mental problem.

      • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

I’m not the one that financed an alt-right pro-Trump group with Milo Yiannopoulos. Google Oculus Trump.

        • mindigo

K, Google’d it. Now what? Was I supposed to have an OMFG NO WAY moment? Fucking *yawn*

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

Now what? That’s it mindigo. Nothing else. If I had money to waste, like Palmer does, I’d pay for some anti-Oculus billboards to be put up as close to their headquarters as possible. As it is, I’ll just have to keep convincing potential Oculus customers like yourself to Google Oculus Trump before handing money over. As that seems to work.

          • mindigo

Sorry to say I think you’re fooling yourself if you think you’re having any kind of measurable impact on anything. If anything, it just makes you look incredibly biased. As countless other people have pointed out. Selective Outrage.

          • iThinkMyCatIsAFlea

As long as potential customers can make an informed choice when considering whether to buy an Oculus Rift or not and are aware that the founder of Oculus supported Donald Trump and financed an alt-right pro-Trump group that Milo Yiannopoulos was involved with, then I’m happy. I’d be happier if Oculus could put that information on their website and all VR outlets, but that’s not going to happen right? They are trying their hardest to bury that subject.

          • Justos

Nope, you arent convincing anyone of anything other than youre a nut job.

        • mindigo

And seriously, you have to question your life’s priorities when you have to go around harping like a fucking raving nut on Gizmodo, Wired, RoadtoVR and UploadVR, Kotaku, Reddit to spam the same three words. It should be clear to you by now no one gives a shit.

    • Andrew Jakobs

oh please stop this bullshit every single topic about Oculus..

and HTC are a bunch of hypocrites themselves, the also have HTC Vive exclusives and their own store..
The reduction of price of their Rift and Touch can be due to improved manufacturing processes and drop in price of the used components..
And yes they published CAD files, but that isn’t any different than Valve presenting their tracking SDK.. So wtf is your point..

    • RipVoid

Its great that you want to be politicly active but your energy might be better spent in a more political type venue.

    • Bryan Ischo

Repeat after me: “I will not bring petty political bullshit to roadtovr … I will not bring petty political bullshit to roadtovr …”

Keep it up long enough, and you might make it back off of my block list.

    • Michigan Jay Sunde

You clearly stand with the violent anti-speech movement that’s still poisoning the VR industry, the entertainment industry, sports, news broadcasting, social media, comedy, the internet, education… When an individual’s opinion bothers you, you rally the hive mind to silence and destroy them for “justice.” Thought-policing is not healthy, sane or tolerable in the United States of America, and the way it snuffed-out the light of a spirited entrepreneur who literally, ACTUALLY changed the world – declaring him an enemy of the state OVERNIGHT, is so ridiculously shameful I can’t even. Stop being a vicious, spiteful rat and grow into a gottdamned adult – PLEASE.

    • gregos L

buy htc vive, buy valve, buy carmack, buy Zenimax man if you think that is better than facebook! For me it’s the same american capitalist motherF;!@#ers! and you are a good sheep!

    • Josh Mars

Palmer Lucky sold Oculus to Facebook ages ago, lmfao

  • OgreTactics

As it’s been the case for 2 years, I still don’t like the idea of having controller for VR instead of a positional-haptic remote combined with hands.

Which means that where ideas or inspirations is usually instantly flawing for relevant idea, I don’t even have interest in modding the Oculus Touch. They work pretty well however (save for the usual Oculus tracking hiccups) and are not bulky.

    • Ombra Alberto

l don’t have usual Oculus tracking hiccups. with 3 sensor.

    • Cl

I think motion controllers have a place for VR. I can see it being very limiting if standard was just hand tracking. I would see only hand tracking as being flawed. Both have a place.

  • Foreign Devil

awe. .I was hoping ti would be CAD plans for a new device

  • The Tracker is a completely different stuff, since it has a lot more purposes. This is just a nice addition.
