Star Wars Eclipse is a new game being developed by Quantic Dream

A new Star Wars game was just announced at the Game Awards. The game is titled Star Wars Eclipse and it seems to be set in the High Republic Era of the series, which is dubbed a golden age of Jedi.

Star Wars Eclipse is an all-new video game IP for the series, not connected to any past series titles. It’s likely that this entry will be an interactive cinematic experience similar to past games from its developer, Quantic Dream, which has delivered games like Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, and Beyond Two Souls.

The official trailer for the game describes it as “an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands.” This makes it even more likely that it will fall more in line with past Quantic titles, possibly with a more action-focused twist.

The game will feature never-before-seen species and planets of the Star Wars universe, taking place in the Outer Rim. Like many pieces of Star Wars media, Star Wars Eclipse will have a focus on the political side of the world from long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars Outlaws will support DLSS 3 when it launches this year

Nvidia revealed in a blog post that Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws will be on GeForce Now and use some of its proprietary technology when it launches sometime this year.

Specifically, Star Wars Outlaws will support DLSS 3 and RTX Direct Illumination to improve the game's visuals with ray traced global illumination lighting and effects. The announcement of these visual enhancements for PC and GeForce Now players is the first official update we've gotten on Star Wars Outlaws in a while. Ubisoft unveiled the game at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023, and it left a strong impression. The game will follow Kay Vess, a new character and smuggler trying to survive in a galaxy still dominated by the Empire during the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi's events.

At the time, we didn’t know what was next, but this morning, Asmussen announced that he had founded a new studio called Giant Skull alongside veterans from companies like Respawn Entertainment and Epic Games. That team is now at one on creating its first title, an action-adventure game that Giant Skull is keeping under wraps for now. Prior to the announcement, I spoke with Asmussen to learn more about this AAA studio emerging at a time when the video game industry is struggling.
No regrets
“This idea of being able to start a studio from the ground up with really good people and to be able to define the culture, the types of games that we're going to make, and the types of players that we want to speak to, it really resonated with me,” Asmussen tells Digital Trends. “I just couldn’t let it go.”

Developed by Shiro Games and published by Funcom, Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X strategy game. For the uninitiated, 4X is an abbreviation of “explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate,” and those kinds of strategy games allow players to do those four things on a massive scale. The most mainstream 4X strategy game series is Sid Meier’s Civilization, and Dune: Spice Wars shares a lot of elements with that game. Of course, it’s set on Arrakis instead of Earth.
