Star Wars Launches Augmented Reality Collectible Experience for ‘The Last Jedi’

Star Wars doubles down on Augmented Reality.

This morning, the Good Morning America team dropped a huge Star Wars fanboy bomb when they announced that Disney and Lucasfilms, the creative…’force’ behind the Star Wars films, have something big planned to generate buzz around their upcoming Force Friday II. The event is a global happening that begins on Friday, September 1st, and debuts all of the newest and coolest toys inspired from the upcoming Star Wars installment that follows the Skywalker family line, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Between September 1 and September 3, Star Wars fans will be able to participate in a worldwide event called “Find the Force,” an event that takes fans on an adventure to collect augmented reality character experiences from the new movie.  All you have to do is download the Star Wars app, visit any participating “Find the Force II” stores or website between Sept 1-3, and scan the Find the Force graphic.

Each graphic will unlock a different AR experience every day during the promotion. As an incentive to keep unlocking AR character experiences, the more characters you unlock—14 characters total—the more data chips you collect, which you can then exchange for digital rewards.

But the excitement doesn’t end there, because starting today, Star Wars fans will get a sneak peek of a new character in AR right now! Download the app and scan the Find the Force graphic below to collect your first Star Wars AR character experience.

Anyone who posts their Find the Force AR characters on social media sites Twitter or Instagram and uses the hashtags #FindtheForce, along with #Sweepstakes, are then automatically entered for a chance to win an amazing Star Wars fan experience that includes a trip to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi world premier, a private tour of Lucasfilms in San Francisco, plus other cool Star Wars swag.

The Find the Force AR experience sneak peak begins on September 1 and ends on September 3, but the sneak peek is available right now through the Star Wars app.
