Xbox’s new wireless controller is pretty in pink

Microsoft has unveiled the newest color for the Xbox Series X/S Wireless Controller line, and I must say: It’s pretty in pink. Or shall I say, Deep Pink. The company revealed the new color on Tuesday — a day earlier than the Plastics clique in Mean Girls would’ve wanted — and fans are falling head over heels for its sleek, punk rock-like design.

The rosy pink top case and its analog sticks contrast beautifully with the white back panel as well as with the black face buttons, D-pad, triggers, and bumpers.

The Deep Pink controller joins the rainbow of other colors that were introduced since the launch of the Xbox Series X/S in November 2020, including Carbon Black, Robot White, Shock Blue, Pulse Red, Electric Volt, Daystrike Camo, and the Aqua Shift Special Edition. Plus, Microsoft released the transparent black and green Xbox 20th Anniversary Special Edition controller a year later.

The controller is compatible with its namesake consoles in addition to the Xbox One, Windows PCs that run either Windows 10 or 11, and Android and iOS mobile devices when you connect it through Bluetooth. What gives the Deep Pink controller a little extra oomph is the battery life, which lasts about 40 hours. It’s perfect for all those marathon gaming sessions with your friends during those late nights or when you happen to have a day off from work and don’t have any prior engagements.

3 Xbox Game Pass games to play over Memorial Day weekend (May 24-27)

This was a big week for Xbox as it received its first console-exclusive first-party game of the year in Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2. We're also approaching a holiday weekend where you'll have a lot more time to play video games if you so choose. As such, there's one really easy recommendation I can make to people looking for what to play this weekend. Hellblade 2 is a very dark and mature game that depicts what it's like to have psychosis, though, so my other recommendations are a little more lighthearted.

The first is an indie game that launched in Xbox Game Pass earlier this month, where players control a cat exploring a city. The other is a collection of classic Pac-Man games that is leaving Xbox Game Pass very soon. Those two are worth checking out if you want some more relaxing, gameplay-focused fun this weekend after the intense experience Xbox Game Studios' latest offers.

Sony shows off a futuristic PlayStation controller, but don’t get too excited

In its annual corporate strategy meeting, Sony debuted a video that featured a blink-and-you'll-miss-it concept for a redesigned game controller.

The presentation, which you can watch below, was dedicated to talking about Sony's future "creative entertainment vision," and included a lot of talk about the metaverse, mixed reality, and what it perceives as the future of game development. During a segment that showed off many futuristic-looking devices, you can see a circular controller working with a projected screen.

Will Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be on Xbox Game Pass?

Activision Blizzard, which is now owned by Microsoft, has just confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. There's been one major point of contention ahead of this year's Call of Duty: Will it be on Xbox Game Pass at launch? A new report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that is the case.

Historically, Microsoft has added all its first-party games from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda to Game Pass the day they launched. That applies to big AAA releases like Starfield, as well as more experimental titles like 2022's Pentiment and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, which came out this week. Microsoft's public messaging thus far has teased that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will come to the Xbox Game Pass. That said, Microsoft has not officially confirmed it, so there have been conflicting reports on this actually being the case.
