Earlier this week, a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and two teachers. It was the 27th school shooting in the U.S. so far this year.

Following this, Late Night host Seth Meyers has delivered a monologue addressing U.S. gun laws, and the "fraud" that Americans have an unregulated right to own automatic weapons. Noting the success of gun control laws and buyback schemes in other countries such as Australia, Norway, and New Zealand, Meyers also blasted U.S. lawmakers' intentions to address school shootings by giving teachers guns and turning schools into armed fortresses.

"There are truly no words for how grotesque this is," said Meyers. "They wanna arm teachers, and yet they're not even willing to throw enough money at schools to get them history books that don't end with the fall of the Berlin Wall."

"To the people who cynically parrot the mindless talking point that advocates for gun reform are somehow politicizing this: What else is politics for?" Meyers continued. "It's a crisis, and this is what our political system is supposed to do — address the crisis."
